1. WITHOUT anyone watching you (they'll think you're GOOFY) and while sitting where you are in front of your computer, lift your right foot off the floor and make clockwise circles.
2. Now, while doing this, draw the number "6" in the air with your right hand.
Your foot will change direction, and there's nothing you can do about it!
(The same thing happens if you move your foot in counterclockwise circles and draw the Greek lower-case letter Delta.)
Since there's such a wired-in connection in the human brain between the arms and feet, how the hell does anyone ever play the pedal steel guitar ?????? |

I found that if I did both really slowly, I could force my foot to continue the clockwise circles. As I made the small loop in the "6", I had to consciously think about how to keep my foot going in the right direction. It was also easier to do this if I kept my foot lightly on the floor, so perhaps some touch sensory feedback is important. This isn't a natural move, so it doesn't surprise me that it's difficult on a first try.
My guess is that it's possible to untrain this type of natural reaction. But I have to do it very slowly and deliberately. I do agree that many PSG moves are a bit unnatural and have to be slowly trained in over a fairly long period of time. |

I just tried it and it seems that I am gifted with independence, no co-relation between the two movements whatsoever. Why is that ?

Since men cant multi-task, and only use the right side of their brain. They must be getting in touch with their gay side when they attempt to play steel. HMM |

Will I have to be a fossilized remanant before I get it? Will the wooly mammoths be back?
"Archeologist today uncovered what appears to be a pre-Cambrian pedal steel guitar. The first thing they noticed was how remarkably dull the "C" pedal was, like it had never been used..." Found alongside the instrument were glyphs of a strange notation that linguists are still trying to decode... Scientists are fascinated by several these old parchment documents that appear to underscore a long standing feud between the disciples of ET and their adversary, the JI tribe from the north. |

Well, I guess my inital post may be a little confusing. I ws commenting that people, men, playing a still are attempting to do something that they are apparently genetically unable to do multi-task. Also they only use their right side brain which is the logical side. Now I know for a fact through personal observation that men inherently are poor dacers which takes deterity, finess, coordination, and you expect these people to move three fingers, one arm two knees and at least one foot simataniously, while they listen to the ban ans prehaps watch women on the dance floor. Tell ne how this is possible genetically? |

I wonder if Emmons, Franklin, Scotty, Johnny Cox, who I saw on Television the other night and enjoyed immensly and a whole list of other great players Al Marcus, Alvino Ray Bobby Seymour(SP) are also good dancers, or atheletes. Yes I know this list leave off thousands of great players. |
