Could someone please give me some feedback on the battery life of the Peterson Stroboflip? I heard they go through batteries fast. I don't need another piece of equipment to plug in. There are rechargeable batteries. |

I'd be interested to hear, but I'll just mention that I've been very impressed with how rarely I had to change the batteries in my Peterson VS-II. In fact, I've not changed them even once yet. Hopefully the Strobo-Flip will be similar!? |

I only turn mine on to tune and then turn it off. I don't leave it on all the time. I'm on the original set of batteries I installed on it back in July of 06. |

I got 7 months out of my first set. At that point the display started to fade out and the tuner would be slow to lock. It looks pretty cool all lit up when on AC power but I soon abandoned plugging it in as the extra power cord was getting to be a hassle and I was tripping over it a lot.
What a great tuner this is! It locks in and tunes the bottom string on my 5 string bass and the low C6 strings just as fast as the higher pitched strings. A great improvement over the VSII. The only setting I don't like is the accoustic guitar sweetener. It leaves my accoustics was out of tune so I just use the regular guitar setting for those.

Yes the key to longer battery life is to switch it off once your done tuning -- when I first got mine I would leave it on and just let it timeout. I managed to chew through the first set of batteries fairly quickly this way. |

Thanks for the info guys. I am highly impressed with this tuner. Extreme accuracy. The conditions that I play in are both in and outdoor. Winter and summer. I think that this tuner is what's needed to keep the guitar tweeked up on the fly in temperature changing conditions. I have to silent tune on stage. I'm still a proponent of ear tuning but I'm going to take readings and pre-program them. |

The StrobeOFlip also has a programmable auto power off feature - also saves batteries if you forget to turn it off. |

Does it run down the batteries if you leave your steel plugged into it, assuming the tuner is 'off'? |

Jim, no. If it's off, it's off. |
