Where should your knees be when you are sitting at a pedal steel? I am really not sure but I am a pretty big guy (6' 2"). I feel like the legs on my Carter Starter are not long enough for me. Is there a home remedy or do I have to go with the Carter over height kit?

Thanks in advance!

Chris, you can lengthen the back legs and play at an angle. I don't like this method. Other than that, go with the leg extensions. Or you can order new front legs cut to your specs.

Chris, use this worksheet to figure out what you need regarding overheight dimensions:

Jim Bob's suggestion doesn't work with Carter-Starters since the legs do not have telescoping ability.

Chris,
The way I checked mine ...If you have some 3/4" wood scraps, put them under all 4 legs, also use a board/scrap to rest your foot on at the pedals, when you find a comfortable hight, you can then order a lift kit, or make spacers for the front legs, and extentions for the pedal rods. Do this on a hard surface.

Edited to say...Oops, didn't notice you have a Carter starter..[non adjustable legs], but you can still determan a comfortable hight this way.
