Is anyone using a Peavey Bandit 65 or 112 for Pedal Steel? If so, what are your impressions?

I Have an Express 112 (similar to the Bandit)
I put a Nashville 112 speaker in it and it has greatly improved
the steel sound of the amp.
But the preamp is still designed for regular guitar.
So it is not a Nashville 112.
If you already own a Bandit and want to change speakers
OK, But dont buy one with the idea of steel.
Pay a little more and get the Nashville 112.

I also have an Express 112. I also put a NV112 Blue Marvel speaker in mine. But I went to the next level and replaced the ICs with the OPA2604s (as used in the Lemay mod) and found that the amp actually sounded darn good for steel. It's not a NV112, but makes a decent little, inexpensive, steel amp. The downside is the lack of midrange control around the 800Hz range. But my Profex2 can handle that just fine.

I had one and it was ok for steel, but I'd second the recommendation to get a Nashville 112. Just add a Knob Guard and you'll be all set! www.jimeatonmusic.com

I tried one out not to long ago, it isn't a steel amp and so it sounds just like that. If I had a telecaster it would be fine, but for steel I wouldn't get it. I don't think it has a good deep low end that you need, however when I played through it, it was very loud and still maintaned good tone, I did like that, but I would shop for something else.

I had a Bandit 75 for a while. I think it, and the 65 are probably the best steel amps you can get for the money. The 65 can be bought for about 100, the 75 a little more. If you use a Profex, Pod or similar, and go in to the power amp "in" jack, they work even better. Get two, hook them up in stereo, and it's still less then a Nashville 400 or 112. I think price would be the deciding factor, if you can't afford a more expensive amp, they are the best choice. Just my opinion.

Once correction. The later Peavey Mods were the first to use the OPA2604, not the Lemay mods.

You are very correct, Jack. That reference was used only because I thought it would be easily identifiable to everyone, as opposed to just the chip designation.
