Hi Guys: I don't know if I'm posting this in the right place, if it isn't, put it in the right place it needs to be in. Now my reason for posting, I've just spent two days watching and rewatching the Curly Chalker DVD that Mike Perlowin just had made. It's a pretty awsome thing to get to see a Hall of Fame member and great player like Curly perform 3 different shows. Such a loss of super, super talent. Mike Perlowin had this DVD made and has it for sale to anyone interested in some superb steel guitar playing. It is well worth the $32.00 ($30.00 for the DVD and $2.00 for shipping), even to musicians or even non musicians to be able to hear and see such performances. I personally congratulate Mike for doing such a thing and maybe somewhere in the future other people with copies of other great steel players who have died will honor us all be doing the same thing that Mike did.

I agree fully. I have been watching my copy. I love to hear Chalker play. Also, the band ain't bad.... Every one of the pickers are my heroes. The first time I ever heard Bobby Caldwell play I was absolutely blown away. Lo, these many years later, I still am. I like all of it. It is a great DVD.

Will this DVD be available at the Dallas show? I'd love to get it when I'm there. If not I'll order it.

Thanks Stoney. I appreciate the heads up.

My friend Herb Steiner has agreed to take a box of DVDs to Dallas to sell in his booth. (I guess everybody knows that Herb and I were friends when we were teenagers, and lost touch with each other for about 15 years, and were reunited through our mutual love of the steel guitar and have been buddies ever since.)

As i said earlier, I felt that these performances were so valuable they HAD to be preserved. If I had not done this, they would have been be lost forever.

I know for an absolute fact that concert footage exists of Jeff Newman, Hal Rugg, Jimmy Day, and Winnie Winston, all of whom have passed on, and Lloyd Green who thankfully is still with us.

Hopefully this project will inspire the owners of the footage I mentioned to also make DVDs available.

I am at the present time watching the DVD of Curly Chalker playing. I just cannot get enough of his playing. If you love the C6th this DVD is a must for you. The E9th playing is top notch as well. This DVD is worth more than the $32 it will take to purchase it, including the shipping. Mike is so right, there are others who have video of these steel players. Hopefully some will be released just as this Chalker DVD has been. I am always looking for more video than I am cassette tapes or CD's. I just cannot say enough about the quality of a player Curly Chalker was. Once again, thanks Mike for all of your effort in getting the concerts together for all of us steel players.
