I got an Oahu lap steel the other day and wanted a gig bag for it. I found out the best fit and protection from a baby Taylor bag I got from Guitar Center for $45. It is really a stout gig bag, and is just about perfect for most lap steels.

... might work. The GoldTone is patterned after an Ohau. Snug fit, but nice backpack straps for the lap steeler on the go.

P.S. The actual bag doesn't look anything like the picture.

The gig bags for Steinberger headless basses are about the right size for a lap steel. They're hard to find tho.

The reason I bring it up is that GC has a surplus of them that they are letting go of cheap

Baritone Ukelele gig bags fit many lap steels remarkably well. Kind of a Hawaiian thing.

Thanks Keith. Do you think the Taylor bag will fit an MSA Superslide 12 string? It's 32" long and 9" at the widest. It's been a while since I've seen a Oahu over at Garland's.

Not sure about the neck width; the rest of the dimensions should be fine.

Y'know Her Remington sells an economy model guitar that comes with a gig bag. Maybe he'd consider selling bags seperately. There seems to be a market.

I have two 25" frypans, and need a case or bag for one of them. I have it in a bari uke chipboard case right now, but it flops all over the place, unless I put in a few towels. The length is perfect, however.

I suppose one option might be getting a sewing machine, some cordura, foam padding and zipper, and learning how to sew?

Todd, you might want to try a Martin Backpacker bag. It has a narrower cut at the bottom.
