There were only a few made, and the first one was on a Peavey T-50, used by Phil Baugh, as I recall. It worked with Bowden cables and a special bridge/changer unit, and could raise or lower any string 2 1/2 tones.
Here's Phil playing "Shadow of Your Smile", his signature piece with the unit -

I had one that I sold a year or so ago here on the Forum. It was fun to play around with, but I never really took to it. I downsized my collection and this one went away. _________________ Darvin Willhoite
MSA Millennium, Legend, and Studio Pro, Reese's restored Universal Direction guitar, a restored MSA Classic SS, several amps, new and old, and a Kemper Powerhead that I am really liking. Also a Zum D10, a Mullen RP, and a restored Rose S10, named the "Blue Bird". Also, I have acquired and restored the plexiglass D10 MSA Classic that was built as a demo in the early '70s. I also have a '74 lacquer P/P, with wood necks, and a showroom condition Sho-Bud Super Pro. |

In the late 1960's I saw a rig hooked up to a six string to get steel effects before I got into steel guitars. The guitar had a Harp tail piece with a rope like addition that ran from the tail piece to a stirrup on the floor. He would pick strings and then straighten his back raising 1 or more strings on the guitar. Neat sound. Wonder if this was an early trial at this concept. |

Here's a couple of pictures of the one I had.
Also, here's a link to a demo video that MSA did. They never put the unit into actual production. It was a neat toy, but the market would have been really narrow.
