I've currently got a Nashville 1000 amp that I've used for my pedal steel.
I'll soon be adding a Taylor guitar, and was thinking about switching amps.
I've been considering the Genz-Benz Shenandoah Pro.

Has anybody tried a pedal steel through this amp, or any of the Shenandoah series? Or for that matter, any acoustic guitar amp with reasonable power? (This one has 200 watts and a 12" woofer).
Which amp (Nashville 1000 or Shen Pro) do you think would be the best compromise for both instruments?
Also, any idea of the value for a mint used Nashville 1000? I've got a local dealer here in town that carries Genz-Benz, and they also carry a steel or two every now and then. So, I might be able to work some sort of trade. Just need an idea of what I could probably sell it for here, to compare with their trade-in offer (assuming I get one at all). |

Most steelers would find the full spectrum EQ and tweeter of this and most acoustic amps and PAs to be too harsh and trebley. Guitar amps and speakers filter out some of those harsh highs, and steel amps and speakers filter out even more than most guitar amps and speakers, and boost the lows for a full sound. It will probably sound great with a Taylor acoustic. One solution might be to use something like a POD XT, which has guitar amp and speaker modeling. A Fender Twin amp model and 15" speaker model might sound very good for steel through a high power acoustic amp. |
