Looks like I picked up a nice live sound gig.

I was sitting watching a excelent dutch band with our drummer Bob,
just back from his animation gig in the Philipines.
His friend Andy was there, while talking I found out
he is the promoter of this festival.
As we discussed the great band in front of us,
and horrendous sound system they were saddled with by the venue,
he suddenly asked me if I can mix large concert venues.
I said sure why not.
I stopped doing that long ago to save my ears,
but it ain't a forgotten art form,
I just prefer playing and studio work.
Seems the headliners soundman, formerly with the Allman bros can't make it,
so I am FOH mix for the festival in 2 weeks or so.
I am HOPING that the racks will have the tools I need...
this being Thailand. Or that I can request additions...
The list says :
11. Microphone For Band 1 lot
12. Effect Rack 1 set
Oh yeah.... They go into more detail for the lighting rig...
I also know at least 2/3rds of the bands already,
and Bob is playing with Rich Harper the headliner,
using my personal cymbals.
There is also a club jam sunday, so I will get some
stage time with good blues players.

Well I have been listening to the recordings from the
Yamaha M7CL console that I recorded both nights.
One night was to mini disc,
the other to a Mac cube with a CD duplicating program.
Name forgotten.
All in all, the direct to Mac is a bit more bright,
but not so much.
It was a rack mount minidisk unit,
and I never had time to check the name.
The console was comprehensive for effects, routing and eq power,
8 aux busses, sub woofer fed from a bus,
so you could send lows for JUST the instruments you wanted,
like bass drum and bass guitar.
Scene total recall too for ALL effects, routings and levles...
which is great if the power amps stay set up the same
or the mics and monitors are set the same...
I liked it very much,
but would have liked it more if the guy who knew it best
from the sound commany had spoken more then 35 words
of english....
I was in control by the 1st band,
but the other two guys were doing things when I wasn't looking,
and the stage set-ups varied from sound check to performance...
Not as contracted...
A bit more stress than I needed. I remember CLEARLY
why I don't do many live multi-band sound gigs anymore,
besides the noise levels needed.
I did play in the 3rd night's club jam with the 2 headliners,
an hour set with Victor Brox, no rehearsal, heard him once.
And Rich Harper sat in for a few tunes towards the end.
