If you want to hear a slick rendition of "Stratosphere Boogie" listen to T.K. Smith and Jeremy Wakefield. On his 2 neck guitar, Smith plays the 12 string neck (tuned in major 3rds). Wakefield plays a vintage Bigsby.
Go to the link below, then, below the video screen choose "Concert Hall" - then on the left of the video screen pick
"Smith and Wakefield"
You'll have to listen to 15 second commercial then you get a live concert of the tune.

Thanks for the link, Dave, that was great.
And when I saw below your listing that there were some videos of Jim Campilongo, I suspected that there could be a prominent Bay Area steeler involved, likely either Joe Goldmark or hall-of-famer Bobby Black, and sure enough it's Bobby on his Carter, on video 2 and especially video 4, leading The Tennessee Waltz.

| I was at this show,,,it was unbelivable to say the least,,, I still wake up in a cold sweat dreaming (nightmares) about this preformance! This was part of Dekes Guitar Geek fest. 1. You can get this DVD from Deke! You outa see JW play with Mr. Biller!!!!! |

| That Stratosphere Twin guitar is ridiculous - I totally love it! I had no idea about those, I just thought the parts were studio overdubs. I wonder what the tuning really is on that thing. |

If I'm late to the party and the name Dave Biller doesn't raise the hair on a 6 string player then you've simply NOT heard HIM play! I had to good fortune to hear him with Mr Dale Watson a few years back and still remember what a great player he is!

That is a killer video. The right hand thing is probably a vibrato switch. It is a switch that shorts out the pickup for a split second. It goes as fast as the player can pop the button. Pretty cool effect. Jeremy is one of my heros. What a great and passionalte player! Thanks for the web site

Dave Little - you asked about the right hand movement. Scott Henderson called it a vibrato switch. On the old forum it was often called a stutter switch.
What is equally interesting to me is the doo-wah that occurs right after the use of the stutter switch. There is no tell-tale hand movement during the doo-wah, which indicates to me that a tone/volume pedal was used. |
