I can't understand why someone would sell a matching case separately? Are they that money hungry? These people need a good slap to the head!!!

Similar to the Ebay posting where the picture photo shows the Fender Bassman head and speaker cabinet assembled, but the fine print states that the speaker cabinet is being sold on a separate Ebay listing. |

That's not half as bad, in my opinion, as the idiots disassembling fine old guitars and selling them as parts. |

That's a pretty rash statement.
Having a bad day?
There are all kinds of good reasons why a guitar could be seperated from it's matching case. In most instances, how often could it be proven the 2 came from the factory together any way?
Last year I sold my A22 fry pan to a friend who didn't need or even want the original case (in great condition). I then sold the case to a fellow SGFer, and 3 people were made very happy.
Where's the problem?

It's driven by greed. I've seen auctions where the people even take old strings out of the case and try to sell them seperately. Most of the time, nobody bids 'cause who wants strings that are 40 years old? The seller ends up having to eat the eBay fees which is a good comuppance. |

Some things just rub me wrong. Parting out guitars, splitting up guitars/cases or amps/cabs, and refinishing perfectly fine vintage instruments are three of my biggest pet peaves.
An exception, I'm currently looking for just a single neck Fender case for my Deluxe 8, but the only reason I need to find one is a previous owner of my guitar seperated the two in the first place! Darn... |

Yeah, and how about the @$$&0(#$ who rob the knobs and pickups from Fender Champions and put in crappy replacements and sell them on eBay
That's just plain evil.

I buy guitars to gig with. The youngest guitar I own is a 1940 Epiphone Emperor. These original cases don't hold up to the rigors of gigging so I have to purchase replacements for all of the guitars I buy, leaving me with a stack of unused original cases. I would sell them, too, but I have a little extra room in my house for them. Have you seen the prices of good cases like Calton?
It ain't that big a deal. Good to know the steel guitar police are always on their beat, though. Remember, up to 10 years nobody gave a **** about these guitars. I still have the remains of a steel I butchered about 15 years ago. Anyone need a case?
