Does anybody know what this guitar is worth, without case and legs?

The chrome string cover is also missing which is nearly impossible to find. I would not pay over $600 but seeing what goes on at auctions, it will probably finish higher.

Ron,

Thanks for pointing that out. Do these become available here on the Forum for a better or safer deal? Thanks.

If any stringmasters come up here, I have only seen double or triple necks. There's a D-8 now under for sale. Usually the sellers on ebay are honest but the bidding jacks the price up especially if someone wants that guitar. There are some other nice sounding instruments other than the stringmaster. I'm sure some of the experts here can expand on this.

Leila, The single neck version is actually called a Deluxe 8, but is often referred to as a single neck Stringmaster.
Here is a 59 Walnut Double-8 with all its parts for a pretty reasonable price.

Leila,

I will add a caution. I bought a D-8 off of eBay in January and am still fighting with the seller/credit card company. The far neck was DOA upon arrival. The seller insisted that it worked when he packed it. However, when I opened it up I found that the neck pickup and blender pot had been removed from the circuit because the wern't working. And the selector switch was broken. I can make repairs, but at the price I paid, I shouldn't have to.

My point is, use all the leverage that you can. Pay by credit card. Insist on photo's. Try to get a promise buyer to take the instrument back if it doesn't work.

There are good deals on eBay, but they're getting harder to find.

Hi Leila, I'm selling a 1959 D8 stringmaster in very good condition with a case. Everything is their and works well. I would be glad to talk to you about it if you are interested. I'm sure we could come to a fair price.

Thanks, Jay Taylor
