I just received a newer Sierra 8 string from a friend. It weighes a ton! It came with no strings so I'm asking for suggestions on what tuning to use. I already have a 8 banger tuned to C6 and a 6 string tuned to Emaj. I was thinking about E13.
I play mostly Hawaiian tunes along with a little Blues.Any other suggestions?
Thanks in advance

C6/Am7 tuning would be a good choice. From bass to treble:
A C E G A C E G

I tried Leon McAuliffe's version of E13 and didn't have any luck with it at all. Then I got this E13 from Ricky Davis (his favorite Hawaiian tuning) and I was able to figure out some music on it right away. here it is (low to high) with the string gauges I used.

One of my 8-str. tunings is E9/13:
E–D–F#–G#–B–C#–E–G# Probably not versatile enough for a single-neck.
C6/A7 Combo is good: Lo-A–C–C#–E–G–A–C–E
If I had just one 8-str. neck, I'd choose C-Diatonic: C–E–F–G–A–B–C–E.
Now you know the (3)-tunings that I use all the time! The latter would be my choice for a S–8
