Hello everyone....
What a great show we had last weekend. I have been reading the many posts about the show, and I feel it is our best effort yet. I would like to thank the many players, the house band, the vendors and most of all, the volunteers from the SWSGA. We could not put on a show without these folks......Peggy, Meriul, LaRue, Joe, Troy, Randy, Jimmy, Dave, Otto, John, John, John, Wayne, King, Gloria, Carroll, Vangie and Merrill....hope I haven't left anyone out. These folks all stepped up and did a great job.
Thanks to all who attended and helped support the show. The quilt was won by Patricia Skipper of Apache Jct. AZ and the Peavey 112 Amp was won by Jerry Tuck of Ocotillo, CA.
See ya in Dallas,,,,

What a great weekend in Mesa. Thanks SWSGA for having me as one of the staff band members. I've had the pleasure of working all of the shows the SWSGA as produced and each year the show get's better. The weather was super and each and everyone of the players were of the highest quality. Thanks again SWSGA for the numerous hours of work your organization put's in to produce this "first class" show. Looking forward to being back next year.

I had an absolutely wonderful time. Lots of great friends and great music. It feels like home without the cold and rain of the Seattle area. The sound was the best ever. Thanks for a fun weekend. BTW I thought Jerry Fessended liked really hot mexican food. Maybe I just didn't order something hot at Los Dos Molinos. I'll have to try again next year.
Thanks again for a great show you Arizona fellers put on!
Sincerly

Billy, thanks a million for a great!! show. The hospitality was heartfelt and everyone I talked to seemed like I had known them for a long time. The players were fantastic and the Band really deserves a lot of praise for their energetic support. Norma Jean and I had a wonderful time and I especially enjoyed playing guitar for the two Dougs: Livingston and Jernigan. I hope to see you all again next year. Al |

Thanks to all involved for a great weekend. The sound was the best I've heard at one of these shows, the band was great (as always), lots of wonderful players and a really friendly atmosphere.
The sunshine and palm trees were nice too (wind chill in Denver was -28 last night).
Hope to see you all in Dallas. |

I'll second all the compliments from others on this great show. What I enjoy is the playing talent is top notch, but the whole event is scaled down from St. Louis and Dallas proportions, just feels easier to manage, friendlier, cozier, very satisfying in all ways.
The sound was spectacular, and the big screen video was really a welcome feature. But I don't think there was ever a set where there wasn't a seat open right on the first row, so if one wanted to study any player up close, it was always easy.
I'd like to compliment Dan Tyack and Doug Livingston for injecting some welcome musical variety into the show. Dan's sacred steel approach was brilliant and heartfelt; and Doug's mastery of some early 20th century pop/jazz standards, plus those 2 amazing classical pieces, was stunning. I did miss Mike Perlowin's rendition of "Gloria," but know he'll be back on the bandstand next year. _________________ E9 INSTRUCTION

We had a board of directors meeting and more of the time was spent talking about how great it was that we had several new faces playing.
We mainly talked about how big a help many many people were in making everything work so smothly.
Thanks to all that attended, all that played and all that helped in so many ways.
We are planning for next year to be bigger yet.
Watch for your news letter to see what all else that is coming up before the show. _________________ Joe Naylor, Avondale, AZ (Phoenix) Announcer/Emcee owner www.steelseat.com *** OFFERING SEATS AND Effects cases with or without legs and other stuff ****** -Desert Rose Guitar S-10, Life Member of the Arizona Carport Pickers Assoc., Southwest Steel Guitar Assoc., Texas Steel Guitar Assoc., GA Steel Guitar Assoc., KS Steel Guitar Assoc. I just wanted to chime in and say that we (the Newberry/Stewart clan) thought the show was really great. Everything went so well. It was very professional in how it was run and how the sound was. Good job everyone! |
