As one of the Funk Brothers, he helped define the Motown sound...

Oh man...that's terrible news. Anyone who hasn't seen "Standing In The Shadows Of Motown" should rent it and see the tremendous influence Joe Hunter and the rest of the Funk Brothers had on so many of us musicians.
RIP, Ivory Joe.

Man that's sad...I read an interview with Robert White once in "Guitar Player' mag.The interviewer had taken him out to lunch, while they were ordering food"My Girl"started playing on the radio,Robert White turned to the waitress and said"young lady did you know?" and then stopped mid sentence?when asked why he stopped short of telling her that he played guitar on the record,he answered "that she would think that I was just some old fool"Yes you should get "Standing In The Shadows Of Motown"...and you better get a big box of Kleenex.
