Do you prefer neutral mics or mics with a definite 'color' to them?
Yes, I like mics with a definite style.

No, I want to capture ONLY what's there, not the mic's character

Yes, for certain uses it is good to have something stand out different that it's natural self

Hi I have the chance to grab up some stuff.
I figure to grab this anyway,
but curious to know any of you have used this mic?

M-Audio Solaris ' Professional' studio mic with wind screen.

Also included; an M-Audio 410 firewire box, I don't really need.

MUCH more interesting an AKG C 451B, a re-release,
which always make me think of dad's old Norelco C-60 condensors.

And a Senn. MD 441
All the above and a little Washburn 20w 8" bass amp for
around $1,150 US.

Not in the planned budget,
but looks like somebody is bailing and I can pick it ALL
up for under the cost of 2 of the mics...

More mics is always good. Razz

old akg 451s are way better, (with interchangable heads)

Maaudio stuff is ok, I tried ttheir cards and drivers not the mic, but I would get a vintage akg and a senn 441 elsewhere,

I got the lot for $835.
240 headphones and 3 mics and good breath screen..
Plus assorted wires etc.

Any working mic without damage, has a home for some job,
most for more than one.

Besides... where I am there IS NO elsewhere!

I passed on the M-Audio interface, just no need for it,
and the budget should go to construction.

DD, not to be picky but in your Poll, answers 1 & 3 are basically the same, and answers 2 & 4 are basically the same.

(Sorry couldn't help it; I write surveys for a living, y'know...) Wink

Subtly different,
but I was wanting to see IF those differences
were apparent in responces.

So far the predominant responce is
changing your INPUT sound immediately after the source,

as opposed to getting it exact
then changing it later.
