I wanted to thank Ken Fox & Al Moss for posting a couple of mods available for the HR Deluxe amps. Here is the posting with the respective sites from which the mods were obtained:

http://steelguitarforum.com/Forum11/HTML/009817.html

This past weekend I performed both of these mods on my son's amp with the exception of the caps and slope resistor. I must say that these results were very positive and the amp has a substancially better response.

The EQ is much more user friendly and has become better suited for steel guitar.

The posting for the reverb mod stated that the findings were positive, but not drastic. I found the change exceptional! The reverb tended to have a very "metalic" sound and the highs were exacerbated at higher volumes. To use it above 3 was not good to say the least!

I now find the reverb very smooth and comparable to the tube driven reverb circuitry of the Twins. To run the reverb at 5 greatly enhances the sound!

One other adjustment I made to the amp was to change the preamp tube nearest the power tubes to a JJ/Tesla 12AT7. That gave the amp extra headroom before distortion occurs and gave a much smoother sound that the 12AX7 in this place.

Again, thanks to Ken & Al for linking us to the postings and of course to the amp techs that wrote the original postings. I encourage anyone using these fine amps to get these modifications.
