I have an older MSA U12 that I purchased on the Forum sometime ago, would like to make a few changes to it. Wanting to try the late, great Jeff Newmen's copedent in his U12 instruction video. I'm in Boise, Idaho, and can't find anyone close by. Not in any big hurry, any suggestions, guys? Thanks Michael

Mike, Thats exactly what I have on My MSA except my RKL is the e lower instead of RKR. It's gotta be a triple raise unit to do it right though. I believe the units before the Supersustain guitars were only double raise. Good luck go for it.

Hi Michael, mine is very similar, except I have the Emmons set up ABC pedals, and Jeff used the Day set up. Also I lower the 8th string E to D on LKL where he raised the "9th" string B to D on same lever. I've also done away with the 6th pedal pull and use the 7th pedal pulls over to the 6th pedal. See Danny Nacarrato's tuning on the forum E9th/B6th on the "tunings" page. My tuning is very similar except mine is 7 pedals and 5 knees, and he has 6 pedals and 6 knees. Now on the 7th pedal, I experiment and usually have it to pull the 7th string F# to G#

The older double raise / lower can have Jeff's tuning. I have had triple raise on several old MSA's . There are several ways to do it. Tom Bradshaw makes some pieces that use one of the lower holes and makes it a raise. I bought some from him a few months ago because I didn't have time to do it the other way.

It can also be by other ways but you end up tuning some pulls by the pedal or knee levers stops. I had 3 pulls working on 1 rod. All independent from the other but 2 must be tuned by the pedal stop. If I draw it out can someone post the picture?

Thanks for all of the replies, guys. Who would you recommend that I talk with to do the work, I wouldn't have the time nor the expertise to tackle this one. Tom at Sierra has offered to look over the changer and the set up, and let me know if he can do it, at least that's within 500 miles. Tom, thanks for pointing that out, and Mickey, I believe I'll stay with the Emmons set up also. I see that Jeff likes to move the "bowah" pedal over to #4. Not having tried that, it seems to make sense rather than reaching over to the far right. I'd appreciate your thoughts on a good tech, and I guess at this point I can't be too fussy about distance. All of this is a little daunting to a bass player who dabbles in Dobro and guitar. Michael
