I have a Fessenden that I want to lower about 1". Can't the inserts in the legs be knocked out from the inside of the legs and re pressed back into the leg after cutting the legs.

Colby, how long are your legs from the barrel to the clutch? If they are 1" over you should be able to trade legs with someone who wants longer legs. How about posting the length of your legs. As for your actual question, you can take the leg apart, take a long steel rod ( I use a long mechanics 3/8" drive extension) and drop it into the leg and knock the lug out, cut the leg off, place washers and a nut on the threads to protect them from getting beat up and knock the lug back into the new end of the leg.

These legs are 23-5/16" from the top of the leg to the end of the gnurlled nut on the clutch.. I don't know if this is stock length for a Fessenden or if they are longer than stock. Any Fessenden owners looking at this?
I have a set of my Sho-Bud legs on it now, they are about 1/2" shorter than the Fessenden legs.
