I heard a set of these being used the other day by a band and thought they sounded pretty good.
I know absolutely nothing about these except they seem to be somewhat pricey but I like the size.
Does anyone use these or have any experience with them? Do you use something in conjunction with these?
Thanks,
Jim |

Our band used 802's for years. I still have 4 of them. They are easier on your back than they are your checkbook, but they are worth it. They can get seriously loud for outdoor gigs or back off for smaller clubs.
Most versions of the 802s that I have seen require a Bose EQ in front of the power amp(s) or as part of a send/return loop on all in one setups. |

I have a set of the 802 series II's, and a set of the original 800's. Both sound great. I use them with a Mackie powered mixer for our small acoustic/electric band. They have a really natural sound, and are easy on the back also. Be carefull to inspect the drivers for foam surround rot on the 802 Series I speakers if you buy used ones. The other models have epoxy impregnated cloth surrouds and will not rot (in our lifetime). Good luck,

Jim,
I bought both of mine on Ebay. One was a good experience, the other not good. The 800's I bought are the old series, but mine are in really good shape, and sound is as good as the 802's. They have the old style wood enclosures with black tolex, and are a bit heavier but sturdy and had cloth surrouds. They hold up well.
The 802's I bought were actually 802 series I, but were advertised as series II. They were real clean, as they had been in a church somewhere all their life. I got them, and the same week my Father in Law got sick and passed away. It was over a month before I had the time to set them up, and play them. I noticed some distortion in one when we practiced. Long story short the foam surrounds were rotten. I went back to the seller, and he said since it was over thirty days, and he did not know what I had done he would do nothing. Worse part was he advertised his website as a religious oriented site "kingdom sound". A lesson learned. I think I paid 600.00 somthing for the 802's, and 500.00 something for the 800s maybe 4 years ago.
good luck,
