January 27th is Buck Grantham Appreciation Day at the Old South Jamboree on U.S. Highway 190 in Walker, LA.

I do apologize that it's the same weekend as the Mesa, AZ show, but this is the only facility in the area that had an opening.

The local news media has already helped to promote this event
http://www.225batonrouge.com/events/2007/jan/27/28437/ and the Livingston Parish News will do a feature on Buck in their Arts & Entertainment section on January 25th.

Danny Harrell, Randy Blackwell and I invite you to join us for a great day from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m. We have a dynamite emcee, sound system, and pro musicians in the band.

The schedule is booked solid!
-Buck Grantham (2 sets!)
-Bill Stafford
-Pee Wee Whitewing
-Bob Saxton (on lead)
-Junior Martin
-Danny Harrell
-Wilburn Stewart
-Randy Blackwell
-Royce Tarver
-a Super Jam
and a couple of surprise pickers!

E-mail me if you need additional info or hotel information. We'd love to have you!

Dear Buck & Mitzi,

I'm very sorry that I won't be able to attend your special day. I know you will have a wonderful time and you are so deserving of this honor! You have blessed countless people over the years. May you be blessed on this day. You have helped many young players, and continue to inspire us all with your love and promotion of the steel guitar. Your playing, well, we all know you are top notch! You are even better human beings. We love you, and are privileged to call you friends. Our hat is off to you.

Buck, Thought for a while we might get to come see you on your SPECIAL DAY, but I guess the weather might let us get to Mesa. We will be thinking of you. I know you will have a great time Saturday. We are saving you a copy of Austin's new CD. Take care and we all love you and Mitiz a lot.

Today we got great news that the local media has lined up interviews with Buck for his big day on Saturday. On Tuesday, the local CBS affiliate, WAFB paid a visit to Buck's home for an interview. You can watch it at this link http://wafb.com/Global/category.asp?C=20267

From all of the interest, phone calls and e-mails I've had this week, I know we will have a packed house on Saturday. Yesterday the Livingston Parish News had a beautiful write-up with lots of photos provided by Mitzi Grantham.

Today, the Baton Rouge Advocate has a great story about Buck http://www.2theadvocate.com/entertainment/music/5361141.html

Come on down. This is gonna be a great one!

WOW ,what a day! Have never seen an award show better than this one for Buck Grantham. Buck played so FINE on all his programs during the afternoon. I was so glad to see that Mitzi received her award also as we all know how much she has supported Buck for almost the sixty years they have been a SUPER TEAN!! Put the credit where it is due. Buck received the Keys to the City as well from their Mayor along with all that great adolation from his fans and friends all afternoon. What a show this was. Thanks to Jeff and all the wonderful staff for making this day possible for one of our most favorirte steel players, here or anywhere else.
Bill Staffrod

PS: One of Buck's REWARD AWARDS was finances to produce a CD for all his fans and friends. Looking forward to that.

And I might add that Bob Saxton really spiced up Buck's playing and became a crowd favorite from the first note he played. It was great to see Bob's standing ovation. Rightfully so.

I do mean it don't get any better !!!!What a great show, and for such a "GREAT GUY".

Ole "NUCK" done and knocked-um dead down there. And the guitar talents of Bob Saxton was second to none.

Danny Harrell and his wife had us some of the best gumbo made back stage, (with all the trimmins), I believe I've ever had. I was kinda keepin an eye on Rob Parker, and I think he made 4 or 5 runs at that gumbo pot. Good stuff,,,,,,,,HUH ROB?
Course he wasn't watching me, and I ain't tellin.

Good set with Bill Stafford (with Buck on guitar),and another with Charlie Moore. MAN, these guys put-um in the isles.

Thank you so much Jeff and Randy for the invite. WHAT A FUN DAY !! I can't say enough about the way you folks put on a show, so I'll just leave it at, "IT WAS A KNOCKED DOWN, BARN BURNING, GOOD-UN. We're gonna have to do dat again !!!

Dear Buck & Mitzi,

I knew it would be a spectacular day for you, and even though I couldn't be there, I really do appreciate the effort of all who labored to make it possible. I also know it was a labor of love and those kind of activities are really special. You and Mitzi are precious to all of us, and we treasure your friendship and fellowship. You deserved this honor, and being the wonderful people that you are, I'm sure you were humbled by it. God resists the proud but gives grace to the humble. I know He has poured out His grace on you, and it shows to all of us. Thanks for being the kind of people we love to be associated with.

David
