If you have cable and get the Bravo channel, watch the season finale of "America's Top Chef". It takes place on the Big Island and you'll get to hear some fairly modern, uptempo background music with some simple, but cool, Hawaiian style non pedal steel lines. They're doing reruns all this week so you only need to look at your cable guide channel.

Could this be the new direction Hawaiian music is taking? I've tried unsuccessfully to do a search on who did the music, but one of you insiders (Brandin, Pearson, Weger, Azure?) might be able to shed some light on this. I think the rhythm tracks are programmed, but I like it "nooey lowa".
