Steel seat question

Who has the most overall best comfort in a steel seat ? I'd like to have a side car and a power strip on it.

I looked at a few different seats before
I chose mine. I picked a Steelers Choice
Ken and Dan Rollans seat. I liked the hinges better
than the bass boat type hinges on some of the
other style seats. Its very comfortable
and very well built.
Just my opinions.

Wade, be careful what you wish for. I decided to get the best and biggest one available. I got a Steeler's Choice with backrest and sidecar. The problem is that it is very heavy. And even with the sidecar it doesn't hold all the spare cords and stuff I have to bring along. So I still have to have my equipment bag, and the seat is just one more heavy, bulky thing to schlep in and out, up and down stairs. So, much of the time I just bring my small $29 foldup keyboard bench. I do enjoy the backrest of the steeler seat for long gigs. I'm thinking of trading my sidecar for a lighter seat with just a backrest. I would view the power strip as another mixed blessing. A standard power strip has the advantage of a cord that allows you to place it where you want it. And I'm not sure I would want my seat dragging cords around everytime I shove it back to stand up, or have to move over to give the guitar player more room. So, get whatever you think you need, but think about it first.

Wade, I don't think you could go wrong with a Walker Seat! Ray Walker makes just about the best seat out there and to top it all off, he's a very nice person........JH in Va.

I got a "used" Steelers choice in blue, from Ireland. Dan Rollans told me it was one of the first as it's all in blue. It's not a side car model. After a while I removed the back rest as I felt it put me "forward" too much. I had just got too used to my old Sho-Bud pakka seat, which unfortunately is no longer around. This "easy rider" is really well built, and very comfortable,and not too heavy at all. I just keep strings,picks,bars and Matchbro in it. I have another bag for all the other extras, mics, effects, cables etc Smile

I would like to recommend Walker the seats......lots of room and very comfortable.......I have one with the back and sidecar. I did take the back off for the reason that it did make me sit too far forward.....but it's very comfortable now. It is a little heavy if you have it loaded down, but not too bad. HAL

My first seat was a Sho-Bud packa seat given to me by Hal Higgins. My second was a Steelers Choice with back and Power strip which came in very handy in places with very few Recepticle plugs. couple years later i saw the Steeler choice sidekick seat at the Gulfport, Mississippi steel show. I talked to Kenny Rollins there about making me a custom seat without the sidekick but the same size just a litle deeper. it is Red White And Blue, very cushiony and comfortable. I recommend Kenny and Steelers Choice. I'm sure there Are many great seat companies out there, it's just a choice.

I've been using Steeler's Choice seats since 1988. I've bought three, and each one is still in great shape and being used despite heavy road use with Bush and Gary P. When the foam wore down, Kenn replaced it quickly. You can't go wrong with a Steeler's Choice seat.

I've never seen a Ray Walker seat, but guys whose opinion I respect think the world of them and Ray as a person. So, whichever you choose, I'm sure you'll get a good seat.

I am a dealer for Elite and a user as well. Elite makes a very good seat, light yet tough, however they do not offer a side storage. Elite does the job quite well without taking a lot of room in transit yet has a very deep storage compartment area but it does have a snap-on side pocket. I stock them in black with a backrest and silvervein powdercoat finish on the backrest and leg hardware and I think I offer the best prices anywhere. If a side compartment and electrical hookup is necessary then I recommend the Steelers Choice by Ken and Dan Rollans. Both the Elite and Steelers Choice are built in Arkansas by personal friends of mine and they are top notch products and builders. I am not familiar with the other brands so I can't comment on them.

Wdae, as far as comfort goes its subjective. All the top seats are comfortable. I like Steelers Choice and thats all I'll sit on. Some like Elite or the others. Its really up to you. They are all good.

I have two Steeler's Choice seats. The first I bought used from Danny Hullihan (a pale blue 'Sidekick' with the power-strip) in 1999 and it's still giving sterling service.

I, too, have reservations about the power-strip idea. I've never used mine - I like the mobility of an 'independent' power-source. I also think it's safer.

I bought my second - a black 'Sidekick' with no strip - at the same time as I took delivery of my new black Emmons in 2000. I need two complete sets of equipment to cover my work-requirements, and I had no hesitation in buying the same product. Now I'm colour-coordinated!

I had a small issue with the seat-cushioning, but Kenn and Dan took care of the problem immediately, as well as sending me spare clips, corner-pieces, and other hardware items.

I can get MOST of what I need in the compartments - Black Box, Hilton pedal, lots of spare George L cords, etc - but the overspill (a spare volume pedal) goes in my soft three-space rack case.

I love the security of knowing that all my bits and pieces are permanently within reach in the side-pocket. Strings, picks, bars, sundry tools, and everything I need to play are there, and as long as I've remembered to pack my seat, then I have all the impedimentia I'll require to finish the gig.

These things are so well-made that I can't imagine ever needing another...

Steelers choice for me. It hauls all my gear, except my fx rack.
Can't beat the quality. Can't find better people than the Rollans family.
I also know Dan Sliter who builds Elite seats. Dan is a fine gentleman with a good product.
I'm sure there are several good seats on the market. I like to buy from someone I know and trust.

I've had a Steelers Choice seat with the back rest for about 15 years and recently treated myself to a Sidekick. These seats are awesome and very durable and solid. I also got one of Tom Palmers covers for the sidekick - best thing I ever did!.
There are a lot of quality seats on the market, but I can highly recommend the Steelers Choice products.

I think my most favorite Pack-a-seat is the one I sit on next to make the money. I have 4 seats . Most favorite is my Out West Seat with High density foam on the seat.
