Does anyone know Murray Price? He was a left handed "Tele-Monster". I played with him and John Anderson in his beginnings around 1979-80 in Georgia. He eventually went back to playing for Del Reeves. The last I heard, he was staying at John Andersons home. That was quite some time ago. I was just wondering if anyone knew him or may know of his whereabouts. He's probably one of the greatest lead guitarists you'll ever hear; and probably the least recognized as usual....Thanks! |

Hello Greeley, it is with regret that I inform you, that Murray committed suicide in 1993. He was down on his luck, somewhere down in Florida. There have been several theories about this, but officially, it was called a suicide. Murray was a great player and he was a good friend of mine. I sure have missed him over the years. |

Hey Eddie...
I sure didn't expect to hear that. I just don't know what to say. I've wondered whatever happened to other pickers I've worked with through the years. Me and Murray spent a lot of time together swapping licks. He was one of those guys you just don't forget. Not only as a musician but a person as well. I would have never thought my inquiry would bring bad news. Thanks for taking the few moments to reply. Sometimes I go a few weeks before I can post anything. My work place has the forum blocked as a forbidden url. Oh well. I'm still a night-owl; only without a stage. I have 5 more years to go before I can retire; if the economy allows it. Thanks again for the unfortunate news. Take care... |
