What can I say?
I own a Zumsteel Universal 7+4 since about 1994, when I bought it from Jeff Newman. Do I have bad luck or what...sofar I have never needed Bruce's famous customer service! I think I will never find out myself how good that service is, but I do know how good the guitar is: it works and sounds very well. I never had to fix or change anything. I really love to play it, thanks very much Bruce!

I got a new Zoom last year. I recently put EX-16 pickups on it and it screams. My Emmons are silent now. Bruce is a terrific person to deal with and a master craftsman.

Would like to add my two cents in about Zum guitars. Have nothing but great things to say about this guitar. Easy to play is an understatement. Have had nothing but compliments on the tone that this guitar gets, live, studio, video/tv. Would like to get another one, in addition to the one I have. Thanks to Bruce.

That would be my guess about Mike. That also makes his $.02 worth a lot more valuable! Can't wait for mine to be finished, hope to pick it up in St. Louis.

I've been playing Zumsteel since the mid-70's and I can't tell you how many times Bruce has helped me out of fixes due to airlines smashing something or some other travel related accident. Although I think that customer service is a very important issue, and Zumsteel excels at that, the guitar itself is great and I'd probably play it if the service was terrible...I'm glad it's not though. Rock on Bruce, Doreen and the crew.

I saw my first Zum in '78 or '79, when Mike came through the "Little Nashville Opry", with Gatlin. I said, "Man - I like that! Ever-being the gentleman that he is, I was invited to "Try it", "Crawl under it", and "Look it over". I did all of the above, and then looked across the stage at my '71 p/p, and said to myself, "If I live long enough, I'll get one of those!". I did too - - in '96! - Bethels' old one. Thanks Mike, Thanks Bruce, and while I'm at it, "Thanks Sally - my FIRST and ONLY wife of 26 years, for putting up with this craziness through ALL of our marrage. We came back from the "cancer doc" today, with great news!! I know I sorta' got off of the subject here, but today anyway, please don't anyone correct me - I'll try to do a little better in the future... Jimmie

I guess I just got lucky. My Zumsteel is only the third steel guitar I've ever owned. I was considering buying Jim Loessbergs old PP when he showed me a Zum he was considering buying.
After looking at the Zum and hearing Jim's evaluation, I had to have one. Plus I wasn't too excited about testing out every known brand of steel. That's hard to do in Austin. So when I found one on this forum for sale I bought it and it's been great. I probably wouldn't like anything else. I've been considering getting a backup steel in case mine breaks, I'll probably have to get another Zum. That's what everybody else does.

It's nice to know I don't have to go thru the ordeal finding the right steel the way I did finding the right amp. That process took about 25 years!

Just picked up my new Zumsteel U-12 with double body. It is as solid and true in tune as any guitar I have ever played. Bruce spent probably too much time with me discussing and picking out the color, pedals, front design etc. I can say if you are interested in a custom guitar the way you want it, just call Bruce Zumsteg. I am battling with 35 years of playing a double neck and going to the U12. The most beautiful instrument I can imagine, with Bruce paying attention to every little detail on the guitar. It is sounding great on my Stereo Steel outfit by Jerry Walker. The Hilton Pedal helps also. Bruce Zumsteg is a very knowledgeable musician. We discussed tunings, pedal placement, all that goes through your head when ordering. He is a master at helping you along the way.
Customer satisfaction is rated at 100%. Thanks Bruce.

In response to the question about how many are on loan to pro players, I can answer that with authority. NONE!!! Everyone and I mean everyone pays for their Zumsteel Guitars. I have paid for all of mine for 22 years and would not switch brands for all the free-bees in the world. The Sho-Bud days of free steel guitars are over.
When you have as many orders as Bruce Zumsteg you do not need to give anything away.
