That's some good lookin' guitar. I love my Black D-10 Carter but if I ever get a second Carter, it's gona be the birdseye green. I know you will enjoy it.

Tim.....that is a great looking steel....first quality......Bud just doesn't turn out anything less! I've had my black D10 9x7 with BCT technology for almost a year now & everytime I sit down to play it, the more I appreciate what's gone in to making this such a fine steel! Recently I've installed Jerry Wallace's single coil 17.5K pickups & am getting "That Sound" I used to have when I played Emmons P/P....the combination of BCT & single coil pickups is working great for me! Also using a DD3 & MPX500 running thru a N1000.

BCT is not an option on new Carters, it's standard. (except the Carter Starter).

This is compairison between an EMMONS LL II and a CARTER D-10 (BCT)
WEIGHT: Emmons was heavy ; Carter is a lot lighter to carry....wasn't a major factor in switching though..
TUNERS: Carter has Sperzel tuners. Much more acurate and smooth than the Emmons
FRETBOARD: Carter fretboard is made of a non-reflective material that makes it easy to see against stage lighting or a lack of..
The Emmons fretboard was "shiny" against stage lighting ...sometimes difficult to see on stage.
ROLLER NUT: Carter has smoother rolling nuts. It is more 'flush' with the string. The Emmons rollers are large and sometimes catch the bar at the 1st fret.
PEDALS: Pedal action on the Carter is SMOOTH with short travel. Emmons had long travel and was not as smooth. The Emmons was smooth but the Carter is sooo much smoother feeling.
KNEES: see pedals...same applies. Also the Emmons had 'play' in the levers -not from side to side but from front to rear.
PICKUPS: Comparing the stock Emmons PU to the carter's BL 705s. No com-pairison. Not really a 'guitar' compairison ...so I will not address the PU here on this post.
OVERALL TONE: The Emmons has a distinct tone. Pretty good.. I always liked it.
With the Carter, it seems as the Tone factor was increased by about 50%. It is very rich , distinct and resonant. Sounds more like a push pull than some PPs I have heard/played.
SUSTAIN: No compairison. The Carter is hands down leading the pack between the two instruments here. I was in - disbelief - that there was sooo much sustain with the Carter. The first set of the first gig with it ...just left me giggling to myself over the sustain and tone.
The mica finish on the Carter is nice and durable. The polished knees and pedals are an added attraction.
CASE: The case is a basic 'ozite' (grey carpeted) case. The Carter fits VERY snug inside of the case. A nice change from the Emmons in it's Thomas case.
Don't get me wrong I am not knocking the Emmons Steel Guitar. I am just offering my compairison as asked.
I enjoyed my Emmons and may own another in the future. Right now, I am just taken with the contrast between the two instruments.

Hey guy's. Thought I'd throw my two cents in the pot. When i was thinking about a new guitar, TW had just got his new Carter and wanted me to play it. He said it had been 20 years since he had played a guitar that excited him so much. I've had mine for about 5 months now. In short, my Carter feels like a part of me. I've found a new enjoyment and we all need that as much as possible. Plus everyone at Carter was great. Would i buy another Carter? I will buy another Carter. Corky.
