I'm with Erv, a little spit on my fingers before I put the picks on. I also use heat shrink tubing on the ears. I use the hard JF picks and it makes them comfortable, You have to leave it bare between the picks, but that doesn't seem to matter much with the comfort.

You may want to try not using finger picks and see how you do without them. I've played fingerstyle guitar for a long time and use just a thumbpick (the orange Fred Kelly Slick Pick.) I made a choice to use only a thumpick when playing PSG because I'd use finger picks and get used to them when playing Steel and then have to remove them to play guitar and it was all a bit awckward. It's been working out pretty good and I played on my first studio session on PSG this past December and was happy with my tone and don't seem to have any right hand problems getting around the strings.

This may work for you or maybe not but it can't hurt to try. Best of luck!
