Bobby Seymore stated in print that they were hard to keep in tune !!!!!!!!!!!!!! And he liked them. I did not say or mean
they were not good guitars ---- but old guitars are like old cars never as good as one reminders. |
I liked to old cars a lot better in many ways. Kool styling and they didn't follow you around on the internet, or the NSA!
This was my old 1956 Buick Century that I restored. This car had style to die for, kool and flowed over bumps in the road like a good boat on a lake.
The old Buick
My old 1950 Cadillac Hurst. The luggage rack was for people who wanted to take it all with them I guess?
I also restored the Caddy. Wish I still had these two fine examples of cars built in Motor City! _________________ Inlaid Star Guitar 2006 by Mark Giles. SD-10 4+5 in E9th; http://luthiersupply.com/instrument-gallery.html

Hi, I've had a rack & barrel, but never a fingertip. Is the changer flexible with respect to different copedant? |
Changeable, Yes but not quite as easy as the older rack and barrel. I loved the fact that with the rack and barrel you were unlimited in how many pulls you could have on any string as long as you had enough barrels. _________________ Inlaid Star Guitar 2006 by Mark Giles. Traded. So no longer available.
On the way to another forum member and his will be on the way to me tomorrow.
I think we'll both be happy.
He will get a great Show~Bud fingertip and I'm getting a decent S-10 black Promat to keep my D-10 Promat company.
Considering that only 27 Promats were made before Mr. Papic passed away I might be the only person with two of them? _________________ Inlaid Star Guitar 2006 by Mark Giles. SD-10 4+5 in E9th; http://luthiersupply.com/instrument-gallery.html

Traded for a Promat S-10 with 3&4 Standard Emmons set up.
Looking forward to getting the Promat. These are very good copies of Emmons Steels.
Lighter weight will be easy on my back.
Mr. Papic only made 27 of these beautiful PSG's before he passed away.
I understand it is one of only 3 that were single necks and the only S-10 in the USA.
My other Promat #11 is a D-10 with 8&4. Was worked over by Lynn Stafford and plays perfectly in every way now.
I think there are only 4 with these colors in mica, maybe one or two somewhere in Rosewood mica and the rest are black mica.
Lynn also finished what was to be the Promat #28 and a left handed one had Mr. Papic not passed.
It came to Lynn as a box of incomplete parts and no body. When Lynn got done it looked like a perfect instrument built just was intended.
Went to a man in Texas who had paid for the steel, but had to pay more to have the instrument finished. I felt sad for both him and of corse Mr. Papic.
Here is the link to that project and some photos of the finished steel:

Lynn is a real artist when it comes to Emmons PP Steels as well as other steels.
Great player and also an all around nice guy.
I'm guessing I'll maybe be the only person with two Promats, but not sure about that. _________________ Inlaid Star Guitar 2006 by Mark Giles. SD-10 4+5 in E9th; http://luthiersupply.com/instrument-gallery.html

Congratulations Daniel. I know you've been on the hunt for a 12 string for a while. Nice score.👍 _________________ Carter D10 8p/8k, Dekley S10 3p/4k C6 setup,Regal RD40 Dobro, Recording King Professional Dobro, NV400, NV112,Ibanez Gio guitar, Epiphone SG Special (open D slide guitar) .
