Jamie by out of regulation I mean pulls out of balance. Pull rods in the wrong bell crank holes. I know people who have sold guitars because they said the action was too stiff. Guess what, that can be regulated (balanced). A guy like Jim Palenscar can go over your guitar and make dramatic changes in the feel of a guitar through adjustments. A trip to Jim Palenscar's shop for a tune up and cleaning is money well spent. He doesn't think he knows. He knows. Others similar. Mike Cass, Bryan Adams, Billy Knowles, Greg Jones, etc. Take your guitar to a good steel mechanic if you are having problems.

Thank you Kevin, I'm not having any problems I just had never heard the term "out of regulation" and was curious. Makes sense now, thanks again. I still don't know what "overtuned" means, though. Rolling Eyes Smile

I read that as a change not having enough travel to get the job done, so that in order for, in example, the B string to go to C#, you have to crank the tuning nut so tight that it won't go back to B (Answer: give the pedal/lever more travel, or move the rod to a stiffer slot)
