It can be frustrating trying to date Emmons. Used to be you could contact the factory when they were open, they would look through their records and tell you the exact day they shipped it and to whom. But that was a long time ago. I wonder what happened to all those records after they closed?
Anyway, one can still narrow an Emmons down to the year it was made by looking at a variety of “tells”. I think it’s a bit easier to do that with LeGrandes. Look at the date code on its pot. 4 or 14-hole bellcranks? Legrande SKH, LeGrande or LeGrande II? What type of tuners? And, of course, its serial number which, although not sequential, can also help pinpoint its year.
Most importantly, post lots of pictures. You’ll get responses and comments from a lot of owners and those who know. |

2060: is almost certainly from 2000.
My guitar (2085L) was delivered to me new in October, 2000. _________________ Roger Rettig: Emmons D10, Quilter TT-12 & TT-15, B-bender Teles and Martins - and, at last, a Gibson Super 400!

Thanks for the info Roger. Mine has the 14 hole bellcranks.I am unsure about the color, it has been covered with contact paper. The rods have been moved around and the vertical lever has been removed. I have a lot of work to do. Wish me luck. |
