Ok friends.......my wife Karen is back in the saddle and singing her heart out again.
She is working on a new Gospel album and wanted you to hear this song that will be the opener for this album. Her motto "a day without music is a lost day" is the best motto I've ever heard.

Of course I play(try to)the steel on her songs.
Steel Guitar is a Nashville LTD build by Gary Rittenberry.

Going Home

Let me know what you all think of this song.

Ron

P.s This is a rough track and not a completely done version but is copy written like all of Karen's songs

Nice singing and nice steel work. I think you could crank the steel up a little higher in the mix. But then I always say that about steel. Smile

Good job, both of you! Karen, although your voice is individualistic, it reminds me a bit of Barbara Fairchild. What I call a 'sweet' voice. Very well sang!

Ron, your steel shines. I agree with some of the other comments about volume, or as I would put it, 'presence'. It should stand out more.
Great stuff. Thanks for the exclusive preview!

Thank you so much guys.Karen and I thank you from the bottom of our heart for all the compliments. It does people good to see that their songs are appreciated. It is a version that needs a lot of work.We recorded this in our little home studio.
Karen is writing this Gospel album now and I think she is going the right way if you ask me.She does all the Harmony and the instruments on this song....all but the steel Very Happy
As far as the steel goes. That is a Nashville LTD built by my friend Gary Rittenberry.
The steel was plugged in the mixer and I did use no amp here.Just a simple BOSS reverb unit.

Brad.......the raise on the E's you hear are simple B-C pedal licks.
Hope this helps you figure out where and when I used them.

Karen and Ron

Great job, Ron and Karen.
Beautiful vocals.

Take the mute out of the steel and move it up closer to the front.
That's too pretty to be hiding in the background.

Let's hear another one.

I enjoyed the chat room and talking with you a while back.

Is there a regular schedule?

Hi Ron,

VERY TASTEFUL Exclamation

I'll be the odd man out here and say that I would'nt change a thing. I think that the steel part is balanced quite well with the beautiful vocals. It's not a steel instrumental after all.

Your playing and phrasing complement Karens singing very nicely.

Like all of the others, I'd love to hear more. Let us know when the album is ready!

Mr. Collins, you are not the odd man out because I feel the same as you...Ron did a great job keeping the Steel volume at its present level..IMHO....too many bands today drown out the vocals..the voice is what sells the records..the steel is the enhancement.
