I recv'd my copy of this book about a month ago and have been glued to it. I have learned 3 songs so far and played two with my band. This is by far the best understandable TAB course I have ever tried. The concept is to give you the basic melody (sometimes in a chord form) and the music bar above it for the meter and tones with their values. It just has a feel that invites you to become creative with it. I have tried a lot of other's that have the same idea but believe me this one is very user friendly. I was not even interested in about 3/4's of the songs but quickly have changed my mind when I see and hear what is coming from my guitar. I have found it easy to plug in the chords in my Band in the Box by just copying the chord charts and then practicing the songs. Thank you Doug for such a great book and the way you put this together. If someone wants to see if this is for you, then go to his website and try a couple of his samples. That's what got me hooked and now I look forward to playing because he makes it easy but it sounds classy.... Sounds like a commercial huh !!! Oh well just thought someone may get what they were looking for like I did... Very Happy Very Happy

Thanks Rick! I appreciate your kind words.

A while back I started working on band-in-a-box tracks for the 60 songs: chords & melodies. The "piano" plays the exact steel melody shown in the tab. I finished 48 of the songs, but then I got sidetracked. This post inspires me to finish that project! When the BIAB tracks are done I will announce it on the Forum, and I will email them to anyone who wants them, or maybe post them on my site. I have to figure out the best way to do that.

Doug... John Daugherty posts BIAB songs on his website. He may be able to give the insite for that method to help you find out which way would be best... Thanks again for a wonderful book. When I get any free time on this old farm I pick the book up and head out to the garden swing and study it. I find it a very relaxing course.

Doug, I purchased the BITB program when you said you were going to provide it for us. If you have only 21 songs to go we should hear from you shortly. Your 60 songs are the best tabs I have ever seen or played. This will really make it the "cadilac" program available. Thanks for your generosity in providing this for us.

Thanks Lorren, I only have 12 songs to go, so it won't take much longer.

I have just completed 60 BIAB files (tracks) for the 60 Songs in my E9 song book. The tracks include the Melodies and the chords. In order to play the tracks you need to have the BIAB program in your computer.

The exact steel guitar notes that appear in the tablature are heard on the tracks, played by the piano in BIAB. These are reference tracks to give you an idea of what the steel parts should sound like, the timing, etc. There is no steel guitar on them. One of these years I'll get around to recording all 60 tunes on pedal steel, but for now these BIAB tracks will have to do.

These are Free... anyone can download them from THIS PAGE

The files are very small and they download fast. I can send these files to you in an email if you prefer, but there will be 60 separate attachments, so that might not be any easier for you. I would need your regular email address to send them to you. It's not possible to attach files to the Steel Guitar Forum email system, as far as I know.

I could burn some MIDI tracks for players who do not have the BIAB program. MIDI files will play on any computer, but the sound quality is very poor, in my opinion, so I’m not sure I want to go that route. WAV files sound better, but they are huge.

Lemme know how this works out... thanks.

Hi Doug,

Happy Labor Day. Thanks for the BIAB files. I checked some of them out using your book (60 Popular Melodies for E9) and they sound great. See you at the RISGA Steel Show on the 23rd of September.

Chuck

I just returned from the holiday excited to see that the tracks were there to down load. Done that and they are nearly as great as the song book itself. Doug, you are a gracious guy for doing these for us. I have mentioned your book to several, in fact once today who wanted your webb site. Can hardly wait for your next book!!!!Thanks Lorren
