Saturday night I got a chance to check out the new Pot Belly pickup that Rick Aiello installed on my Sierra 8 string. The tone was awesome, full and rich with plenty of definition on the low end. The gig was with a retro country band and they all commented on how good it sounded. The pickup is very powerful, I was using an Evans Parlor amp and had plenty of headroom. Sunday I played it at home into a Fender Vibrasonic and it sounded sweet through that as well. Great job Rick.

I like my pickup so much, I went and put a band together just so I'd have a reason to go out and play with it. Smile

It's time for Rick to visit the patent office (to keep John Hall from stealing it).

I'm surprised John Hall lets him continue to use the name 'Rick'.

I'm sorry Loni ... it was my Emmie's 5th Birthday party yesterday ...

And in the immortal words of Bob Cratchit:

Quote:
Oh, it's only once a year .... It shall not be repeated.

I was making rather merry yesterday, sir.

Happy Birthday Emmie! It was good to see you last week.

My dad is an engineer and invented a couple of flexible couplings but the company he worked for owns the patents because the $$ was too much for him.

Happy Birthday Emmie Jo ......

I can't find not one amp or preamp that this pickup sounds bad thru !!..... It really drives effects nicely too !!...Funny how sometimes you can play and instrument and it sounds good one day, but then you go back to it in a couple of days, and it just sounds so so .....Not so with this pickup ....It sounds BETTER the more you play with it , and the more things you plug it into ...Jim

Hey Jim, if it sounds better each time you play it, it must have a break-in period, like a speaker Very Happy

James, I use to send Jason Lollar horseshoe magnets in the "Huggies" boxes ...

He commented more than once ... that they were stinking up his shop ... Mr. Green

I shoulda sent a box full of "used" ones ... once Laughing

Anyway .. thanks y'all, for all the nice reports.

If anyone wants to hear/play one ... come to the HSGA Convention ...

I'm bringing two, very special Dustpans ... equipped with "Bellys" ...

Milled, drilled and sanded to 36 grit ...

These are the only photos that I'm showin' ... till the show ... Razz

I've got something really special planned for the finish on these two 8 stringers ...

PS: Thanks for the birthday wishes ... Emmie was "tickled pink" Mr. Green
