Barefoot Jerry was a very cool band as was Area Code 615...jeff bradshaw

| I just bought the DVD "Heartworn Highways" and there is some GREAT studio footage of Barefoot Jerry tearing it up! Wayne Moss on lead guitar and Russ on pedal steel ~ absolutely smoking! |

I saw this post and got out my "Barefootin'" LP [1977]..Danged if that ain't Russ on the cover photo sans shoes along with the other band members!
Besides steel, he's credited with strings [Goodlettsville Sextet], horns [Hendersonville Horns], and lead guitar along with Wayne Moss and Barry Chance.
Guess who else  The fabulous Charlie McCoy with the "Horns", piano, clav., flute, jews harp, and harmonica, of course.
Buddy Blackmon, Si Edwards, John Moss and Mike McBride round out the contributions. Must have been a fun band. Gotta give this another spin soon's I get my nap in.
It's great how the liner notes give credit to Jimmy Crawford, among others, for licks and inspiration too  |

In addition to Wayne... Dave Doran (Chicago, IL) played lead in Barefoot Jerry.
I had the distinct pleasure sharing the stage with Dave at a house gig we had in Chicago at the infamous North Side bar "Carol's Pub" ( a few miles North of Wrigley Field)
He is a PICKER!!! |

Let's not leave out the late, great Jim Colvard (sp?). One brilliant lead man.
Was privileged to get to know most of them mid '70's. Russ had always been a major influence on me, & Wayne engineered an album of the group I was with then at his studio, Cinderella Sound here in Madison. Wonderful memories. 1st time I saw a coveted "Flickinger" console. Guess it was an Edsel then but sounded Incredible.
I think at the time (all of us were in Minneapolis) Russ mentioned that he sold that "basket weave" Emmons to someone in France? He had either a sky blue or denim blue Emmons. Styx was the opening act.
Well, let's see what all this stirs up...  |

| Yes Rex, Jim Colvard was a main part of Barefoot Jerry,& he was the first guitar player that I ever worked with when I was asked to play several package shows here in Mn. back in 58. Jim was the leader at age 15 on those shows. In 69 My wife & I lived with Jim & Laura in Hermitage,Tn. when I worked the road with Connie Smith, What a shame that Jimmy had to end it all so abruptly in 77. Rex! It was great to see you at the Mn State Fair a couple years ago! au |
