The regulars among you will have already seen some pictures of this one recently. Here are a few more, now in my abode. I think it's way cool.

A couple of questions: could you point me to a reference or another thread to tell me how to tune the darned pedals? I think I need a systematic approach, cuz for now if I have A&B right on 5&6, nothing else is close.

For now, I think I'll take a serious run at the stuff in the Winston/Keith book. Imagine that!! This is the setup they describe. In the long term, however, I think I'd like to get it Coopulated. I was thinking of 4 and 4 with a Franklin pedal. Any other suggestions? Should I have more of the hardware updated? I'm very tempted to leave the pots and switch where they are, because they work well, and, after all, are original.

May I suggest Dewitt Scott`s deluxe pedal steel guitar method. It is a treasure trove of material that can be played with that set up (guessing it is standard A,B,C pedals and the lever lowers St 2 and Cool

Trust me, get it Cooped. Until then...

Basically, it works like this. Tune the opens at the keyhead. Each pedal will engage one of those barrels under the guitar. WHILE KEEPING THE PEDAL ENGAGED, turn the knob at the changer end that corresponds with that string. The raises will tune on the row closest to the floor (when the guitar is standing up). The lowers will tune with the top row. Each pedal will be tuned individually. A different barrel will come into play with the outside pedal B - C# than with the inside pedal B - C#. You will turn the SAME KNOB on the end of the guitar, but it will tune that pedal.

DO NOT TURN THE KNOBS WITHOUT A PEDAL ENGAGED!!

If you do, you will immediately be transported to the "Land of the Damned Steel Player." (That's when the other musicians look at you and say, "What's wrong with that damned steel player?")
