Having been a member for more than several years now, I've watched the 'for sale' section on a regular basis. Recently I've seen S-10 Emmons and some Sho-Buds reaching the $2000 + zone. The LDG's are commanding, sometimes in the $2500 zone and some S-10 Emmons are reaching that level too.

However, I don't see that type of up pricing in the D-10 as much. I still see some clean examples of early D-10 Emmons going for $3500 and some Sho-Bud's D-10's less; by about $800 -$1000 dollars.

It seems the D-10's should be going in the same direction and should be commanding a higher price based on what the S-10 market is doing.
Of course this is subjective and I may be way off, but would the up price trend on S-10's be because of several factors:

Not as much current country music is not using the C6?
Too much weight to carry the extra neck (C6)?
Can get the C6 sound on E9th perdy close?
Price of an S-10 sill in reach for a pro level guitar?
Some other reason?

Always hard to guess the future but I would be interested in what others think about the current pricing in the used market mainly on Emmons and Sho-Buds on S-10, SD-10 the D-10's and where it may be going within the next couple of years.

Thanks for your time and thoughts in a friendly conversation...

Hey Marlin,
I think you hit the nail on the head with your reasons even though most of us don't want to admit it!!
It seems to me these days most of the steel I here on the radio or country channels can be described as a "sliding single string sound effect", only playing on one string when the player has 10 to 24 strings(D12) to use. And on top of that it sounds close to a lead guitar with all of the effects added. I'm not trying to step on anyones toes, hey if its what they want to hear, i.e., it's what keeps you working go for it.
I went to a D10 two years ago and love that C6. I consider myself to be lost in the '60s.
