I know there are some dealers that frequent this forum and I need to get a replacement quote for my insurance company from an expert.

The instrument in question is the exact model of Guyatone shown here:

If possible, and not to much trouble, I would prefer an official quote faxed to my office. This will greatly speed up my claim and will be very much appreciated.

please message me for fax number and any other questions/details.

Thanks,

James

You need to have your instrument professionally appraised. Gruhn Guitars in Nashville, TN will do such an appraisal for $50.00 USD. See their web site for details.

The insurance company told me that all I needed was to get a dealer quote, so here I am. This isn't a high-dollar instrument so I would rather not spend the $50. I am aware that I may be asking a bit much.

...or if there is a vintage guitar shop, or a guitar repair shop near you, take it there for a written appraisal.

I wouldn't pay too much for an appraisal or for insurance on this guitar, unless you are including this instrument into a larger group of insured items. The value is about $300 or less. $50 for an appraisal and additional money for insurance premiums makes no financial sense IMHO.

You need a written apprasal from a guitar dealer/repair shop/ music store. If there is a good music store within a reasonable drive, call them, take it there and try to get a written appraisal on their company letterhead. Personally, I wouldn't bother insuring it.

This instrument has been stolen. I cannot take it to get it appraised.

So the instument WAS insured, and it was stolen? Or it was Not insured?

The instrument WAS insured and WAS stolen. The rep at musicins.com just told me that I could speed up my claim considerably by tracking down the replacement estimates myself. I've written some major online retailers for quotes on the $4000+ other gear that I lost. Those are much easier to get because most of it was electronics from major brands. Vintage and boutique items can slow things down for who knows how long and I have gigs coming up.

Print Out The Following Ad and give it to your insurance agent: GUYATONE LAP STEEL

It's a long shot, but there's not much else you can do.

Thanks for that. It's not the same model and I think it's a little more $$, but I'll see if I can make it work.
