Hello all, am looking to narrow my current string spacing at the metal nut of my 2001 Melobar SXL lap steel, it's a little too wide. Anyone know where I can find a blank replacement so that a narrower setup can be cut? This is a metal nut attached by a single screw. Have sent an email to the Black Canyon Guitars web site, but don't know their current status. So if that doesn't pan out, I need a Plan B.
Thanks in advance,

If yours is like my two, the string notches are crude looking, deep cuts with a triangular file. You might just file away the excess metal and recut normal strings grooves. It would only lower the string height at the nut a very small amount.
I did this at the opposite end, at the bridge because the string spacing was uneven and it improved the looks and playability of my guitar. _________________ "If we live in fear of banjos, then the banjos have won".

I used brass angle bar cut to length. One screw to mount it. Filed notches. I have a few around. |
