I use my right hand ring fingertip and a thumbpick to pinch harmonics on a single string. I can get a strong harmonic this way but the attack is a little annoying. I would like to have a less brash attack, like getting a harmonic with two hands (touching the string with the left hand, plucking with the right). I was wondering how the rest of you accomplish them. Do you use metal finger picks when tapping the string?

To manage the attack, I work the volume pedal.
I use a bare finger tip and my plastic thumb pick.

I gotta go practice.

I also use pinky harmonics - the pinky is at the harmonic, the index finger plucks the string. I learned that technique from Alan Dodge. It's the easiset way for me to do single string harmonics.

Thanks! I use method #1 and I guess I've been doing it correctly.

Method #2 seems like it would yield the same results, not sure what that's supposed to sound like.

#3 is a little confusing. "Do NOT move thumb independently"? so...........how?

I suppose I could have explained it better, but I'm only a half educated dumbo !

You push your whole arm forward keeping the thumb and fingers rigid, whilst making contact with the strings with the HEEL of your palm ! (and the thumb-pick)

As for the magazine, it's published each quarter and subscription is available "On-Line'
