Anybody else use a Korg CA-30 tuner for steel?

They have triangular icons that mark major and minor (JI) thirds (with the "needle" to the left of the icon). The icon on the flat side is major, on the sharp side, minor. The -20 cent mark can tune the F pedal. They must have been thinking of steel players when they put them on there!

If you use all JI, the Korg has the 1/2 hz accuracy necessary for tuning in fifths.

Much more efficient than a Boss, and one tenth of the cost of a Peterson!

That's the kind of tuner I use. The only negative thing I have to say about it, is the lack of a lighted meter.

They're great little tuners and at the low, low price of $20, you can afford to have several.

That tuner sure does a fine job at a reasonable cost. My first Korg cost me $179.95 back in the 70's I think, this last one was just a fraction of that cost & fits in yer pocket. I would not waste my money on another tuner. This one will do the job.

PS: I have never been accused of being out of tune with the keyboards or guitar players either one! something must be right, right??

Dear Forum:

I realized an error in that CA-30 bump. Actually,

I tune my "F" lever 6hz flat, not -20 cents. Sorry

'bout that.

I agree with you there about the light, Lee. They do make (a higher priced) one with a lighted dial, with a kind of chintzy metronome on it.

Somebody put a thing on the forum a while ago, about using a cassette case to hold and change the angle of the tuner. It does fit the CA-30 nicely. Lately I've had adequate lighting at gigs, but I've got one ready, if I have to change the lighting angle (in some dim-lit honky-tonk bar.)
