Mr. Dyke Corson asked this question in another thread
& i believe it may have been overlooked by Mike.I am curious as i am sure some other folks also so i thought i would bring it up in a new topic:
"I'm looking forward to the release of the Peavey 15" 4ohm neo that uses the same basket as the 1501-4SB. Getting closer there Mike Brown?" |

Hmm, that will cut several pounds out of a Session 500. _________________ Darvin Willhoite

This technology will reduce the weight of the Black Widow speaker by approximately 6 pounds. |

That doesn't seem like much of a weight savings.
The Eminence Basslite C2515 is 5.7 lbs net weight. This is similar to the "Deltalite" that Evans used in some SE-200 amps. |

Jack, the big "plus" with the new neo magnet technology is that it will retrofit with the existing magnet, therefore saving money and being lighterweight! No other speaker manufacturer has this technology and the other "plus" is that if the speaker fails or is blown, you do not have to pay for the complete speaker, but just the basket! It's a good deal all the way around. |

Other Positives: It will be the first 4 ohm lightweight speaker (someone correct me if I'm wrong)and I'm assuming it will sound like a 1501-4SB since the basket is the same. Except at low volumes, I have not been wild about all the other neo style lightweight speakers I have tried. I can't wait to try one! |

Mike, are you saying we will be able to swap out the magnet on a 1501 with the neo magnet? |

Yes. All BW's that have the BW Super Structure and BW magnets to date can be converted to the neo magnet. I will give details when these are in stock and ready to order.
Dyke, I took one to the Dallas show in a Nashville 1000 and it sounds identical to its predecessor. Also, I have personally A/B'd the neo with the SS and I could not tell the difference in sound between the two. I think that players will benefit simply from the fact that it is 6lbs. lighter in weight. Six pounds is a significant reduction in weight if you think about it. |
