Hi to all,
I guess I really botched the first attempt to greet you all with a post in the "events" section.(new member, new gadget)
I apologize to those who came in to view it, and found a grand tour of an empty hall closet.
To validate the header however, I really do need some volunteers out there to help gather some data for a new mounting system. (volume pedal, to guitar) These are gonna be made to spec for you, and your guitar. allowing the pedal to remain a free standing pedal, (full contact with the floor) In other words, an L120 will still be an L120, but in the same place, at the preferred angle (or head on) every time. Thanks DH

If any of you have questions about this thing, please feel free to post. I have to exit for awhile and haul some hay for the horses, as we haven't had enough rain here to fill a dance hall spittoon.

I just stopped by to check on things. There doesn't seem to be any interest in this yet.
I will say that I just put this system on Sonny Garrish, who recently bought a Hilton pedal, and he seems to like it alot.

Maybe a pic would help...or a more detailed description...to give us an idea of just what this new thing can do for us.

I like new ideas, but don't quite understand the improved benefit to me, as a steel player.

I have two low-profile L120's with the Goodrich clamp attached. On my GFI it's perfect, but on my 'Bud the bracket raises the front of the pedal too high. Is this the type of problem your product addresses?

I too would be interested in seeing what your new product looks like.

Thanks for dropping by Mike, and Emmet.
Mike you're absolutely right, here you go.And Emmett, yes, this is exactly the type of problem that this addresses. What you see here is my GFI with an L120. I have another picture, on my camera that Sonny got a kick out of. The guitar is lying on the keyhead endplate with the volume pedal sticking straight out. It didn't even budge when I flipped it up as you would a car hood. It merely clips to your pedal rack, no screws. (other than through the feet on the pedal) I'll try to get that one uploaded soon. The third pic shows how it will fit nicely into a seat with a 12 inch compartment. The material has a little spring to it, and it actually helps keep the pedal from rattling around in there. Thanks for posting, I was starting to feel a little nekkid.

Now that I have figured out how to upload, Here's something fun for you GFI players. I was having a hard time staying oriented on the neck, especially since I'm just coming off of a 6 year "sabbatical" from playing steel. This is done with highlighters, and it will wipe right off if you need to remove it.

Heres another one, You can remove some of the extra play in the linkage On a GFI, and relieve some of the "metal on metal" contact with some dime sized 1/4" nylon washers. They usually come in packs of four at Lowe's or Home Depot. This alone has improved the feel and playability tremendously, as well as quiet things down under there considerably. I told my pal Charlie Whitten about this, and he did it to his new GFI. He notes a marked improvement also. You don't have to take anything apart here, no major surgery. Simply notch the washer with a side cutter, it will look like a pie with a piece missing. You will then put them on the off side of the rod, on the side where the brass fitting goes through the bellcrank.

Dale, I applaud you. It's always refreshing to see someone thinking and making attempts to improve on designs and status quo products.

Thanks Chris,
I guess strange ideas/things can happen when a guy tires of un-wedging a volume pedal from the rack.

Dale, I went down to Home Depot this morning and bought some of those 1/4" nylon flat washers and installed them on my GFI sd10. I want to thank you for that great tip. It took all the slack out of the linkage and it is as snooth as silk. I can't believe the difference.

I'm sorry guys, I left the thread for a couple of days. You know, they say "a watched pot never boils". I kinda felt like I had my bare butt hanging out there with so few replys. Thank you Bob, I'm so glad that the "mod kit" helped you out.
As for you Chuck, I'm terribly sorry, but you "stepped in it" by flinging the door wide open here, and I'm soon to expose you to the world for what you really are, stay tuned. You are one of my hero's,and These guys need to know it. By the way your Improved version is on the way, so flatten the old ones with a hammer.

Bob, one thing that I neglected to mention is that you still want to have a little play in the linkage or things will bind. I had to file a couple of them a little thinner to achieve the desired result.
    (Speaking of the GFI modification)

Chuck, I decided to minimize your embarrassment, and comment here, rather than begin a new topic header. incidently ,its been 22 years, but whos counting?
I moved to Albuquerque, NM in the spring of 85'
(when the Maj.7 ruled the world)
When I began to ask around about steel players to look up, the answer was unanimously "Chuck Back".
I sought him out at the Caravan East, and introduced myself to him. I guess he took a liking to "the dumb farm kid from North Dakota", and took me under his wing.
He helped me out finding playing gigs (in those days you could play in town full time for a living),and let me hang around with him alot.
Chuck was the go to guy for recording, playing, or fixing almost anything.
I was a little dumbfounded when his brother Terry approached me about playing steel with himself, and Chuck, who had decided to take a break from steel, and play lead guitar. I suppose he liked that I could play in tune, but I really had only been playing for about 5yrs, and could rarely get from one end of a song to the other without getting lost.
I wasn't surprised to learn that Chuck is regarded now, as one of the most skilled builders of steel guitars out there. Truth is,I haven't even seen one up close yet;, but I will say without reservation, that if his name is on it, its as good as you'll get anywhere.
Chuck is the type of guy that is never really satisfied with anything. He's always looking for that elusive "something" out there thats a little better. I can't begin to count how many times that Chuck would come up to me with a childlike exitement, and saucer eyes, saying; "Man, this is the ultimate! You gotta hear this it's (censored) great!!!! (speaking of a combination of amps, and gadgets)
And then he'd show up with a whole new rig the next week.
I miss our long discussions, that would go non-stop all the way from Tucson to Albuquerque. I miss his generosity, and genuine concern for others.
Chuck wants to be the best that he can be, but even thats not good enough. He wants me to be the best that I can be, and he wants you to be the best that you can be.
Chuck is one of my heros. I just thought you all should know.
