I had the usual Tues. reheasal at my home studio today and to save time and set up for the fiddle player I pluged her into my Nashville 1000. WOW! It was just about the best ampliphied fiddle sound I have ever heard. Our player is female and normally uses a 2-10 combo. (Weight and sized for her). Her amp I have recorded in live situations and does not do her talents justice for tone.
After about 30 mins of running a few tunes I asked her what she thought. Her reply was slightly protective of her own amp but could not deny the gigantic deep and rich tone from the NV. The guitar player is a man of few words and simply said; It sounds about five times better. This was straight into the amp w/ a touch of verb.
I think I am going to insist on useing the NV 1000 from now on, reh and gigs.
Has anyone else found this to be true. This is one great amp. I use a rack set-up for my steel and an NV 400 but if I go straight into an amp the NV 1000 is my 1st choice.

Agreed. I've seen several Texas fiddlers using them, although probably the dominant fiddle amp here is the NV400.

If I'm not mistaken, the last time I saw Bobby Flores play he was using a 1000. And although Bobby would sound good bowing a piece of yarn and a tin can, his sound through the 1000 that night was deep, rich, resonant, and dripping with soul.

I've never heard a fiddle through a Nashville 1000 but I'm sure that she could dial in about anything she wanted to hear. The best amplified tone I ever heard a fiddle through was a Webb Amp.

Has anybody used an Evans FET 500 for fiddle and do you have the settings? Or a Nashville 112?

Having experience working with the great fiddlers that have played the St. Louis and Texas Steel guitar shows, I knew that the Nashville 112 and 1000 would be great fiddle amplifiers. Therefore, suggested control settings for fiddle are provided in the operating guide. I had local fiddlers suggest the settings for me when the operating guide was written. Check out these guides at;

Thanks for choosing Peavey!

Yep my fiddle sounds brilliant through my NV1000 -- and even better through my Peavey 115E rack system.

Our fiddle player,Richard Helsley,uses a 1000. It sounds great but he has experienced some problems with it. PV repaired it under warranty. Our lead guitar player uses one too.

James...up until this post I didn't know there was some fiddle settings out there ...I just adjusted the amp up till I got the sound I was looking for....and it's brilliant.

My fiddle is a Skyinbow S2 with built in electronics etc ..!

Last week our fiddle player was using a NV-1000 and it sounded great! He was using a RI Twin previously but says he doesn't get the same "punch" as with the NV-1000. 300 watts compared to 85 watts makes a great difference indeed!

Thanks Paddy, I was thinking more of one of those little equalizers that you clip on your belt - that would be more my price range at the moment.
