is there a mod chip or something for this amp and if, is it good.

| To my knowledge, there's no "mod" available for a NV 1000. But that's not saying that Ken or Brad couldn't help it a little if they tried! I tried one on a couple of occasions, but was disappointed because of the lack of bottom end and warmth. Tons of mid-range power, but the solid bass I'd expected for an amp this big and this powerful...just wasn't there. |

Ken Fox has the chips...they come with instructions and are easy to install. I installed them in my NV1000 and NV112.....and both sound great. Do a search on Ken Fox and you will find him.

| The NV1000 and 112 have the exact same preamp, so the 112 mod works in the 1000. |

Many different IC's can be substituted for the factory chips in any amplifier, but it would take a lot of time in R & D to actually change the tone of the amplifier. A stock Nashville 1000 should provide plenty of low end for a steel guitar's frequency response. Check your guitar/pickups to ensure that they are producing enough low end for you, ie; try another guitar.
We designed the Nashville 112 and 1000 amplifiers with our tone mod already incorporated into the circuit. So, both can duplicate the C6th and E9th tunings. Let me know if you need further assistance.

I ordered the chip mod before I got the amp.
Let me tell you a story about my nashville 1000 amp.
I drove 200 miles round trip to get one, got it home and it was DOA, disorting really bad at any volume.
Dealer ordered another, drove another 200 miles got it home and it was distorting at low volume. I was not happy. I took the speaker basket off and there was a little plastic hair thing in there. I cleaned it out and it sounds great! I have been a peavey person for 20 years. The last 5 years of buying peavey equip (Your Highend PA Gear) I have had problems with your speakers.
I will not be putting in the mod chip!

Both the 1000 and 112 are great just the way they are. Each has it's own sound. If you like the amp and buy it, why modify it? If you modify it, to me it sounds like you didn't like the sound.
I'm an ex amp tech and always considered myself a "repair" tech that made things work like they were originally designed by engineers. I don't consider myself an "Engineer" and redesign items.
I tried the chip swap in my NV112 and took it out after a week and several gigs. The 112 no longer sounded like a 112. |
