Identifying small gains after each practice session is rewarding. Having the urge to return to a newly learned "lick" or "run" is the best measure for future successes. |

Perhaps one of the best ways to help identify the gains we make are to record them. I believe that every performers normal state of mind is self doubt. There are the exceptions where the ego is so inflated that the delusional state over powers ones doubts. Nevertheless, when ever I want to work to attain a certain level of expertise I record my work and then go back after a week and I compare week to week and am pleasantly surprised to find that I have improved. This has a down side as to when you drop a song from your repertoire and listen to a song you recorded years ago that you can no long snap it out like you did the day you recorded it due to neglectful disregard. |

And how true this is Bill
Never allow the preponderance of your playing become a subterfuge of normal day-to-day activities
Sometimes you just have to shave the sebaceous off your hand and "get 'r done" |
