We're looking for some old traditional type country songs to record. We really want some obscure, one off, perhaps some "B" side stuff that was never released as a single or was never a hit or even some non recorded stuff from some of you song writers.
Where can I go to hear or find some material ? I have a small old record collection of maybe 200 albums, but I just have not found enough material in there to do a full album. What is everybody else doing to find material ? |

I found a terrific double CD of Spade Cooley's music.
there are some pretty obscure songs...quite often not politically correct any longer.
I also found a three Cd set of old timey WW11 cowboy tunes. lots of lap steel, Red Foley, and Jumpin Jimmy Dickins.
I shop the local record store. it is known for being thorough. Electic Fetus in Minneapolis. maybe they have a web site and you could order.
another idea for finding stuff is trying Pandora.com.
it is a radio station that you create. first you pick an artist or song. it is played, and another in the same ilk is selected. I discovered quite a few cowboy and delta blues songs I would not have heard of ever that way.

Hi Wade,
I have three albums filled with original classic country tunes. Check out buddylewismusic.com to hear them. I also have publishing on about twenty other classic country tunes that I am in the process of recording right now. If you want, let me know your style and I'll mp3 you some examples if you don't hear anything you like on my web site. I think these songs are great. _________________ vocals and back-up vocals, bass and rhythm guitar |

Hi Wade, I have approximately 60 gb of older country albums with lots of album cuts that were never released as singles. If you want me to I'll go thru them and see if I can find you a few good tunes.
