The Oklahoma Boys did it again. Great Show. John Hughey, Robbie and Jimmie Lou Springfield, Russ and Laney Hicks, and what can I say about Scotty Henderson ? You just should have been there. All the players sounded great and the staff band was superb. B. J. handled the sound and did a great job. The supporting singers did good and thanks to my friend Dean Dobbins for singing on my set. Thanks to all the vendors for coming in to the show. The Sunday church service was inspiring as always with Rev. Jess french. John Buffington played better than I have ever heard him play. If I stepped on anyones's toes getting them on and off the stage, I apologize. GOD bless you all, and hopefully, we can do this again next year. Jody.

As always Jody you were a class act and kept the show running so smooth.Thank you so much. WOW so much to say... Friday nights show was nothing short of absolute magic. Paul Roy Larry Dewayne and John you guys were the show I was just having fun enjoying the ride. I can't thank you enough for such a great memory. Mr. Hughey you are number one in my book as far as playing and friendship. I appreciate you so much. Robbie and Jimme Lou I so enjoyed your work your soul and your testimony. Stay in touch my friend. To all the other players, you all sounded great! One of the biggest highlights was JB's set with the country classics. Man that was hardcore and I loved every minute of it. A big thanks goes out to all the folks who came out to listen and support our crazy habit!!! It's you all that make it worth while. My special moment this weekend was when some one told I would have made Tom Morrell proud. ( made me tear a little) It was so good to see all my friends and look forward to the next time. What a great weekend that culminated with the birth of our 2nd grandchild Lizzy at 10:40 last night. If God would have blessed us much more this weekend my eyes would have bugged out!hehehe Thank you again to the John, Gary, and all the OSGA for having us and your tireless efforts to put on an excellant show!. We will see you next year. It's booked and on the calendar! Take care till next time

You bet we had a super good time at the Oklahoma Show Smile I especially enjoyed the Sunday morning church service. I was amazed at the awesome playing of John Buffington, Robby Springfield, and Scott Henderson. Curt Shoemaker and Louisiana Lightning (Buck Grantham) also were at the top of their game. In all fairness everyone did a super job.

Jody Sanders, it was a privilege to meet you. When Les Gilliam (the Oklahoma balladeer), sings, it just doesn't get any better than that. Hope to make it back to Tulsa next year.

Mitzi and I always have a great time at the OSGA SHOW. The show was great. The Backup Band was the best we have ever had there and that made it easy and fun for all of us players. All of the players were great. I was really thrilled when they got Dalton Stewart up on the stage to play and sing his song. Him and Austin are very gifted boys and folks that's what we need to keep our music going in the right direction. John Buffington and the entire staff did a superb job with this show. I always learn a lot from these shows. And Jody as always did a superb job of MC'ing the show. Jody is truly my friend so anything he does up there is ok by me.Hopefully we will all be able to meet up next year and do it again just like we did it this time. Love, Buck & Mitzi

I feel I too need to step in here and offer my .02 worth. I cannot say THANK YOU enough to all the players who out done themselves at the show this year. Robby Springfield and Jimmie Lou awesome, Russ and Laney Hicks, it doesn't get any better than those folks and yes, they are scheduled back next year. I made sure we got them before anyone else on that weekend. Scotty Henderson and "Maggie" was an absolute show stopper - (who needs pedals huh Scotty?)
Jody Sanders gave a great set and the MC work, one word SUPERB, a show without him is missing a real treat IMHO. Yes, he'll be back next year also. The set on Saturday night with John Terry, Larry King and Dewayne Bowman was a real highlight for me to get to play with this awesome team and Dewayne Carger on drums played just as great as all the team members. The OSGA band Paul, Roy, John, Larry and Dewayne, that truly is the "A Team of Jamboree Bands". You guy's out done yourselves - again! Dean Dobbins - what a cook - even with a broken "B" string! A thanks to our vendors and especially Billy Parker and KVOO FM98.5 and Big Country KXBL FM 99.5 for the airtime and the new faces we had!
The entire weekend seems like a blur. I earlier stated it was like a "big ole family reunion" and that it was! When the banner came down, there was a sense of sadness, becuse, now we have to wait another year before we get to do this again! Another thank you to all those who have complimented the OSGA, we truly are grateful for all the help we have received and I personaly want to thank the Board members for their support and confidence, without them it wouldn't have happened. Thank you also for the kind words about the worship service. We hope everyone sensed the presence of GOD as strongly as I did!
Thank you all, so very much and we'll hopefully see you next year. Forgive me for not listing everyone, but thanks to all again so very, very much.

John Buffington, President OSGA.

Hello from GeorgeBoards

Ditto all the good thoughts mentioned.

My Wife and I were setting up GeorgeBoards vendors room at 3:00pm friday when John Buffington walked in and said "we have a cancellation, do you want to do a set at 5:20" ?

Yes of course, then the nerves kicked in as it is the 1st. time to play a Steel Festival with the Real McCoy house band.

Appreciation and Gratitude is an understatement, the Cherry on Top of the Ice Cream was having Roy Rossetta and the other band members say, "we really liked your performance, please join us at more festivals"

Band Meeting = 30 seconds
A simple nod of the head or an elbow flair is all it takes to signal these super pro's

Having George Piburn and Scotty Henderson doing non-pedal sets, gave us a piece of the history of the steel guitar. Loved it. Jody.

A special thanks to everyone for the compliments on the Sunday morning Service (and from Patrick Carlson), all I can say is thank you so much for the compliment. The non--pedal sets, as Jody stated was a treat. Scotty Henderson sounded as if Tommy Morrell were standing there guiding those hands. George Piburn was pretty shiney also.
The OSGA show would not have been what it was if it wasn't for everyone joining us and having a good time. That is all we ask for is - kick back and have yourself a great time. Enjoy the fellowship - the music, visit with the pickers, "we don't bite" and also watch those "B" strings. If you know what I mean Dean Dobbins! Smile Poor guy, broke a B string in the middle of his set and like everyone know's, he'll never live it down!!!
Like I previously posted, our show is like "a big ole family reunion", and as Porter would say - "Ya'll Come" next year in '08, We've already got the yellow pad out planning ahead.

I suppose it's time I put a few thoughts together re: the OSGA convention. First off , there is SO much work involved in putting a show (especially a good show) together and I want to single out all of the club members for their individual contributions toward that cause. Thank you for all that you do.

I'll take a moment to reflect on some of the highlights...Curt , thank you for trusting me with Dance With Me...you had a great set. To the Country Classics , thank you for allowing this old man to hang around...your Saturday night show was awesome. I counted 21 songs in an hour and that's really putting out the music. Scotty....did we have fun Friday night or what ? !! Darvin , thank you and thank the good Dr Bowman for your kind remarks about the sound of the bass.....compliments from people like you are substantive. Robbie and Jimmie Lou.....my word , what a set. That girl has a special touch and she'll know what I mean. Of course Russ and Laney , John Hughey, and the rest all played so well. Jody , once again I treasure those private conversations we have....thank you for your wisdom. Good to see my buddies Larry and Tim....they are so faithful to come each year.Enjoyed meeting and visiting with the Privitts...good folks. Mark, as "usual" , I really enjoy your playing and the fellowship.

Finally , to my hero John Buffington , you done good again....a class guy and a class show. I had a large time.

Larry King is a real treasure. He certainly "held up his end" with his vocals, vocal harmony, and bass playing. It was nice having our conversations as we can always learn from others. Hopefully, we can do it again next year. Jody.

The Orginal Stand Up Steel is making a huge rebound and where best to go for it than Tulsa.

A most pleasing aspect to the OSGA is that so many people actually grew up near to Leon McCalluffe and many had taken lessons from the man that helped put Steel Guitar on the Map , so to speak.

I was mesmerized to listen to everyones recollection of their various experiences in the pre-pedal days. We even got to view a few photos of some young handsome players standing behind their Fender Stringmasters (then New) all the dark (now white) hair.

Many thanks to the OSGA for encouraging the Retro 50's to make it's come back in this new century.
