Well...UPS waited until 7pm to ring my doorbell. I was like a kid on Christmas Eve.. www.youtube.com/watch?v=NqDR9tIZGmY...So heres the skinny guys. I am Mullen G2 owner #3. I had been playing my D10PP all afternoon. I took it out and set it up, tuned it and I have to tell you....I am REALLY impressed. I put Wallace tru-tones in this one at 20-20.5. THANK YOU DEL MULLEN, and crew. Del signed the underside for me. This is going to be a lifelong friend. Ive already had several emails from people wanting soundclips. I will be flying all next week...NY, Chicago, Jacksonville, and Reno...after that I will send all of you some data.....Here it is!..

Sounds like a guitar that should be in a museum. |

Mickey shared a little more when we chatted tonight: after about an hour playing the G2, he packed away his push-pull in the closet! He couldn't say enough great things about the new Mullen, I hope to get a visit with it in a couple of weeks.
Keep those reports coming, Mickey! _________________ E9 INSTRUCTION

I had played Tommy Allisons ,royal p , man what a guitar, that was awsome.Tommy had to pry my fingers from it ,just so he could home with it.so i got a loan , and bought a new G2, mine is either 4 or number 5 .my payment is only 115.oo a month, and i make that playing one gig, i am only a so-so player, if the G2, is a step above, the royal p ,man , im glad i got my order in, I"ll have to pry Tommy's fingers from my G2,so i can go home. mullen guitars are awsome. |

This G2 is probably going to be the most seen. Mickey was gracious enough to allow Del to take his guitar to the Grizzly Rose show in Denver, before he even got to see it. Well this guitar lit things up. It sounded amazing. This is the first time we have had a G2 played out of this shop. It has passed the tests. I think the G2 is a real winner. Glad you got your guitar Mickey and wouldn't you believe that UPS would wait until 7pm to get to you. Must have been a long wait. _________________ Mike Mantey

Not sure Im ready to part with these PP's. I have had both of them extensively reworked to perfection. But...The D12 I would probably not sell for less than 4500.00 _________________ ARTIST RELATIONS: MSA GUITARS

The HWP is Dels standard, great guitar all around. Through the years refinements were made in the changer and in the alloys, and a few other minor things resulting in the RP version. For the last 5 years Del and his crew have been diligently refining the RP. The changer has now been completley revised, and now has a split change, precision alignment feature. The crossrods angle to follow body countours of the body, and attach to a bearing assembly to further enhance the action. Pickups are now "wide mount". If im correct, the roller nut inserts look like a larger diameter. The changer resembles (from the front) an Emmons style finger, of course from the back its all new....You of course get Dels great attention to detail on the fit and fininsh...The difference in sound between my 2 models was like night and day _________________ ARTIST RELATIONS: MSA GUITARS

Awesome playing! You got tab for that? J/K. That was some seriously "inspired" playing. I love getting new guitars, especially ones that have THE sound. What Fx/amp was that being played through? _________________ Sho-Bud LDG and a lifetime of learning to do. |

I have several variants, amps/pedals...This is a Burr Brown chip modded NV112 set from left to right excuding all gains: 4,6,800,3,0 The guitar goes to a Goodrich pedal, to a DD6 Delay (420ms, 2 on the feedback, to a Route66 Compressor/overdrive, reverb is minimal at about 2.5...Thanks for the compliment!...Mickey
Ya know I played in the Hutch and Brand Band st Roosters Colorado club for 5 years...back in mid 80's... _________________ ARTIST RELATIONS: MSA GUITARS

I agree with the gang, great playing, Mickey. Looking forward to your LAX or Long Beach stopover!
I jammed with some friends in Atascadero this weekend (thanks for the good times, John Clarke, Bob Hamilton, and Larry Schubert!) and my pre-RP Mullen conceded no sonic ground to Clarke's perfect-sounding Emmons p/p D-10. The Emmons still had that little extra growl it's famous for, but both guitars sounded very comparable and very wonderful. _________________ E9 INSTRUCTION

John,
Next time you travel so far north, do let me know. I would love to hear you play and talk shop.
BTW, have you met Timothy Lydgate? He is an old friend whom I think did a documentary on Pez collectors. I play at a coffee house in El Cerrito, Central Perk. The couple is from NY and they have at least 1000 pez dispensers in her collection (1000 on display is what she said) as well as over 1000 jack in the box goodies.
Cheers

Steve, it was an ad hoc jam session for a couple of hours, not really a perf. But we're thinking about expanding it, so if that happens, we'll definitely have you down to pick.
No, don't know the PEZ friend of yours. I collect just the new stuff now, can't afford the vintage things, but glad I did collect the old before the prices went crazy. Their collections sounds bigger than mine.
And now back to topic... _________________ E9 INSTRUCTION

OK Mickey, if you're going to be headed to Jacksonville, FL, just aim that Sopwith Camel towards Memphis , lite that bird and rest a while. I'll buy you that steak i offered ya and guard the G2 for a while. I'm happy to see you took possession of the new Mullen , a work of art and engineering. I know it'll be a keeper. I've still got my heart set on one some day.
Yall come, now, ya heah.

I would just like to say Thank You Mickey for all your support. Couldn't have expected this. I would recommend some people taking Mickey up on his offer to hang out with and try the G2. I sure had fun hanging out with him when he came to our shop. He is a great guy.
Here is what #2 has to say.
Quote: |
Holy Smokes Mike...I just finished a 2 hour practice session with the G2 and now I have to go off to work but I couldn't leave without dropping this note. The more time I spend with this guitar the more evident it becomes that you have created a superior instrument. I haven't played anything like it. I am an aggressive picker and like to play loud. Man its like going from a 4 cylinder engine to a V-8. I just can't get over the difference from the 12th fret up. It is a privilege to be the proud owner of guitar # 2. I predict that there will be a lot of PP's retired from service. I played one only once and it was a contraption all right, but had the sound. This has the sound and smooth as butter to play...my playing has improved already just from inspiration I think. You can forward this to anyone you like! Thanks so much. Dana Shaw, Canada |

Is the G2 a upgraded Royal Precision,or a new guitar entirely? |

Kenny, the guitar looks like the Royal Precision, however mechanically they are different guitars. They have similiar characteristics because the Royal Precision is such a great guitar, but the G2 is a better guitar, but more expensive. Hope this helps you out. |
