I just received a Waco model, MCI, U12, steel that needs a bunch of mechanical work. It uses the usual slot style bellcranks mounted on a square shaft. That means the pull rods have a right angle bend that hooks to the bellcrank.
I was wondering if anybody knows of a source for MSA style bellcranks that would mount on a square shaft. The MSA style used a brass bushing in the bellcrank through which the straight pull rod goes. It's held by a setscrew in the bushing. I really like those because it's a snap to remove a rod...you have to remove the tuning nut on the MCI type (and others). I want to avoid that, if possible.
And the MCI style requires those darn "O" rings, and I'd like to eliminate them as well.
OK, put on the thinkin' caps, guys. Any ideas????? _________________ Best regards,

I believe that the bell cranks you want are identical to the ones Ed Fulawka puts on his guitars.
I think he uses 3/8" cross shafts.
Anyway, send him an email and see what he has.

Bent, thanks much...yep, the one on the right would work fine. I sent Ed an e-mail, so I'll see what he says.
Anyone else got any ideas? Used is fine. I'll need about 30 of these buggers...if my budget can stand it! _________________ Best regards,

Thanks, Stu, but the ones you're talking about use a rod with a 90 degree bend in the tip, don't they?
I'm looking for bellcranks like the Dekleys/MSAs use, but for a square shaft.
But, thanks for the thought, Stu. _________________ Best regards,

Jim Palenscar makes great bell cranks for these guitars and they are reasonably priced also.
He has drilled a small hole vertically so you don't need an o-ring or something similar to hold the rod in place. There is a fine wire pin to lock the rod in place.Jerry Roller also will make rods for these guitars if you want compensators. They are great horns but, do have some serious cabinet drop.I have three on my E 9th neck and it checks out right on the money for being in tune. Now if I can learn to play the darn thing I will be all set.
