Anyone played or purchased the new Jackson Blackjacks yet? Just wondering how they sound.

I checked one out at the LA Steel Jam and I liked it a lot, but I didn't play it pugged in. Maybe other players who were there will chime in.
It is VERY light in weight and seems very well made.
I would definately consider one if I were looking for either a economy PSG that could handle pro situations, or as a second PSG for when I needed to travel light. |

I played the Jackson Blackjack at the LA Jam, during the lunch break, plugged in and I was very impressed with the feel and sound of the guitar. I would have killed for a guitar of this quality and sound when I was getting started! I'm even thinking of buying one to keep set up at my office!

I played a Jackson Blackjack in Dallas in March and it played really smooth and sounded just great. And the tuning keys rotate when you lower a string! All for under $1000!

I think so too. The "Commemorative" has the cool "rotating machine heads", not so sure about the "Blackjack"....

Oh I see what you mean with the changer. At first, I thought you may have been thinking of the Renegade which is what the Blackjack was formerly named. Jackson also makes the Extreme which has Dual Pulling Head System which has the lowers at the keyhead end which is what I was thinking of. Good catch, my mistake. In my opinion, Jackson steels are in a league of thier own.

Got word the other day that it will take up to 8 weeks to get this new Blackjack.
Wonder if the MSAs, Mullens, Emmmons, etc. have this kind of waiting period?

I played the Blackjack through a Single 15" Sho~Bud amp in Dallas. In fact, I tried all the Jackson models in one sitting. The Blackjack was my favorite, and in no way inferior sound-wise or action-wise than the other models. It's no-frills, like my Pro 1.

Chris I hope to have mine real soon. I have a couple of out door gigs coming up and I would rather use it instead of my Com model. David is doing his best to get these guitars out and as soon as I get mine I will let everyone know how it is.

I am still relatively new to steeling, so can you do everything with the blackjack as you can with the more expensive commerorative model? Do you know?
It sounds as if you can do a lot with it if you are going to use it out on gigs. I wonder if it has the same quality of sound as the commerorative? All I know is that from everything that I have heard of when it comes to Jacksons that they are very sweet sounding instruments.
I am looking so much in getting mine when it comes in.
In a way it will be a blessing that it doesn't come in for a while. I can learn more songs and tricks on this older MSA semi classic that I have now until the Blackjack comes in.

David my Blackjack will have 3&4 so the answer is yes I will be able to do every thing on it. As far as tone or sound it will be different to what extent I will not know until I get one. David tells me that it is different and I can see that the woods are different and so it has to sound different IMHO. As far a workmanship and qaulity of the instrument it is made of the same metals and machined with cnc. They have not gone a cheap route as far as material but have saved in other areas of assembly and so on.
